Default Going Multi - how long?
I have just started my own group and plan on growing to be a multi VA group.

My idea is that I will take on as many clients as I can then once I am tapped out, I will bring on more employees. Has anyone else gone this route? What was the time line?

Hello Detailed VA,

Welcome to the forums! This is a wonderful community. I look forward to chatting with you.

I wish you well on your plan to be a multi-VA service. We have some VAs who do operate a successful multi-VA service although most have started out solo and built their good reputation before branching out.

I would suggest that you begin small...focus on your skills and your target market and build a fine reputation so you can attract the best VAs and clients to your business.

One more thing for which I am a stickler, the word 'employee' is used for employees who work for other folks. Virtual assistants are business owners and not employees. It is vitally important that when you branch out your business that you see that other VAs will be business owners too and not your employee.

I look forward to hearing more about your business.

Janine

I love your attention to language, a very valid point. I certainly want to grow my business slowly as I focus on my strengths and really develop a name for myself. I may have even received my first client today! I figure the hardest part is growing you business in the beginning but after that it is word of mouth. So here's to lots of networking events and strong smile.

Zachary,

Welcome to the forums and congratulations on your decision to become a virtual assistant. Also, congratulations on your new client!

I agree Janine about the use of the word "employee". That word implies that you are providing benefits and other supplements. To be honest, when I see an RFP request where the business owner says employee, I do not respond (no matter how great the RFP looks!) The terminology can give clues to how the business perceives you. Personally, I would MUCH rather been seen as a business partner than employee.

Good luck to you and I look forward to seeing more posts from you here.
