Default Virtual Office Assistant from the Philippines
Hi! I started being Virtual Assistant last April 2009 & I'm currently setting up a Virtual Assistance company with my colleagues. We are very unhappy with how we are treated by the company & I felt that we have to take the matters in our hands. Going freelance helped me but I also want to help other people as well gain security with their jobs. Hence, I'm researching more information on how to set one up. Hopefully, this endeavor would be a success!

Welcome! Yes, as Bernice said, do tell us more about yourself. Of course, you're probably too busy browsing about all the great information here, so may not have time.

Glad you're here!

Hi! I'm new here too. I think it's pretty amazing that you didn't like your job so you went freelance. I hope it works out for you!

It's awesome to hear that you have come together and made a positive situation out of a bad one.

That's how I fell, literally, into this field. I had been with a company for over 18 years. They had recently been bought out by a major company. The new company fired my boss, the CEO, but kept me on. I had a bad fall a few weeks later and ruptured several discs. I was on bedrest and they were actually ANGRY with me! I offered to continue working from home but they refused. They laid me off... well, that's when I started to freelance and soon learned about the VA industry... the fall was a blessing!

Hi all!

Thank you everyone for your warm welcome!

My name's Michelle, 28 yrs old and I live in Manila. I currently work for a dsl call center based in the US (so all those who have dsl & networking problems, you can talk to me about it..haha..).

I was hired by Staff in Seconds, a company owned by Oliver Turner, a Filipino who lives in the US, last April 2009. The company closed down early this month due to some business issues. It was really saddening because we felt that he wasn't taking care of us(his employees) properly like he should be. He hired somebody to run the company who terminated a lot of people. What's worse there is that the person he hired doesn't know anything about running a virtual assistance business. Plus, the person is known to have a bad reputation for running homebased businesses.

Anyway, the closing of the company may have been a blessing in disguise because now, me and my colleagues are forming a Virtual Assistant company. We've got an investor and partners to boot!

It really amazes me how God works in mysterious ways.
