Default Professional Computer Geek turned Professional VA
Hello All,

My name is Crystal. I started my virtual assistance business a little over a year ago now and I love it! I have been looking for a forum or group like this to join so I can share experiences and meet other fellow VAs as most people I know respond with huh? when they ask I what I do for a living no one understands the concept of what we do and therefore I have had to learn by trial and error along the way so any advice is much appreciated and hopefully I will have helpful information I can share with you guys as well.

Now what do I mean by pro computer nerd turned pro va? Well prior to starting my va business I worked in the information technology industry for more than 12 years. I was everything from a help desk analyst to a web developer. As a consultant I traveled a lot and worked with a lot of big companies that are very well known such as Microsoft and IBM.

Since starting my VA business Virtual Technology Consultants I have worked with Real Estate agents all over the united states and focused on technology to court clients, capture leads, and manage contacts and have done a lot of web site and search engine optimization work.

So what kind of work have you guys done?

Hi Crystal Welcome to the forums! It's nice to have another tech-oriented voice here in the community.

I started working as a VA about two years ago - my industries are varied (I have clients in media, publishing, acting, coaching, entrepreneurs, etc. - you name it!)
And in the process of working for my first client my husband and I realized we make a pretty good design/programming team so have developed that aspect of the business more fully as well.

I love what we do and being able to work from home has helped us thrive all the more because we're able to spend our down time learning more, etc.

Congrats on setting up your practice and again, welcome!

Welcome to the forum Crystal.
I've been a VA for 2 years but just went solo a few months ago. My specialty is marketing. I do market research and analysis, internet marketing etc. I agree that most people have no idea what a VA is let alone what we can offer. It can be frustrating.
I think you'll find this forum is exactly what you've been searching for. We're great (if I don't say so myself)

Hi Crystal! I am just officially starting out as soon as I get my website and marketing together. I have 2 clients in NJ where I used to live and I have been doing their admin work for them for about 5 yrs. I started to do it virtually about 2 years ago when I moved to Florida. I never knew that there was such an opportunity out there to take on more clients virtually.

Hi Crystal and welcome to the forum, my background is also in technology. I also started out as a helpdesk analyst and moved into networking. My hubby is also in the industry- We have a consulting firm, and its funny seeing my 6 and 2 year old getting very computer savvy.

Hello Crystal. Welcome to the Forum.

I am also still basically a newbie working on my VA business. I plan to specialize in home business startup as well as small business support. It is a pleasure to meet you. As others mentioned, your expertise is impressive.

Welcome Aboard!
