Default Newbie Introduction
Hello everyone! My name is Leslie. I’m currently a Stay At Home Mom with two young boys. While it’s great to be home and always available for my children, it has been a real financial strain on our family. I am looking for ways to add income while still having the time and flexibility to be at home with my kids when needed. I have had a variety of different jobs and careers prior to staying at home. I’ve held numerous clerical, secretarial and office assistant jobs. I’m familiar with both legal and medical terminology. I’ve also been an elementary school teacher. My most recent job was as a flight attendant with a major airline. After 9-11, I decided to take a voluntary furlough with the capability of returning back to work within ten years. In the meantime, I thought I should look into other job possibilities in case I decide not to return to the airline business.

I looked into becoming a Virtual Assistant a couple of years ago, but I did not find as much information available as compared to now. The more I have read and researched about the VA job, the more interesting it sounds to me. I think I have the necessary skills and the desire to make this dream a reality. I am currently taking an online course which will hopefully help me determine if I have what it takes for succeeding in this new endeavor.

This forum contains a tremendous amount of helpful information and a great group of virtual assistants that so generously offer their advice and expertise. I look forward to meeting everyone and learning as much as I can about the field of virtual assistance.
Leslie

Hi Leslie, welcome!
It's wonderful to know you're finding the information you need here and you're sure to find the support you crave as you pursue this new business venture as well

Congrats for devoting yourself so completely to your family; it can be frustrating to get to a point where you realize that society doesn't as wholeheartedly support your choice (your financial strains are proof enough of that).

Virtual assisting can be a great way to have the best of both worlds but does require a bit of dedication and serious hard work in order to get set up. If you're ready to make that happen and have the stamina to keep it up then you can absolutely make whatever you wish out of the opportunity you create for yourself!
