Smile From New Zealand: Hello people
Hello,

I'm Sylvia, and completely new here and in the VA-business.
Most I have to do now is reading and trying I guess, and signing up here is one of the 'reading' parts. As soon as I have my site going (shouldn't take to long from now) I would be happy to share everything I know with you all.
I really feel like a newbe, but hopefully not for long. If you have questions, don't hesitate to ask. I have no secrets.

Thank you Tess and Sue.

What I want to specialize in is developing and maintaining spreadsheets (excel) and databases (access), accounting and data-entry. Later on, when I finished my php-course, I also want to develop websites. But, I (think I) can offer way more then that. I've been working in the office for more then 20 years, doing data-entry, as secretary, desktop publisher, receptionist, bookkeeper, controller and everything in between. And basicly I liked all the jobs.
For me, there are a lot of reasons to go into the virtual industry. One not really less important then the other.
1. Closest town is about 80 km from here. So travelling for a job I want. (There are not many of those jobs in this small village I live in.)
2. I love working with spreadsheets, databases and actually software/computers in general and for me it would be perfect to be able to do that for my work.
3. I can work the times I want to and as long as I want to, because I'm 'open' 24/7.
4. I would love to work not just in english and for people/companies here and the rest of the world in english, but most experience I got in The Netherlands, and in my opinion it would be a waste not to use it. Being a virtual assistant is a perfect way to cope with that.
5. Maybe a stupid reason, but I just really think I'm going to love it! Contact with people all over the world, working with/for them, from my own home and computer.

Hi Sylia! Welcome to the forums

I like your number 5 reason for being a VA. I truly love working with people all over the world. I love learning about the culture and differences in language usage.

Keep reading and you'll be a true virtual assistant very soon.

Deirdre
