I have decided to open an administrative outsourcing business in Jackson, MI. I've been reading the posts and can't wait to get to know everyone. I am excited about the opportunity in this growing industry.
I haven't launched my website yet but I'm working towards that goal. I must land a job before I commit to a monthly web hosting bill or my husband may shoot me (he doesn't have faith yet). So I continue to work on my business plan and networking.

Check the Website Development section of the forums for various threads on free website templates/hosting options - they're a good possible option for you when you're first getting started. Or, some new VAs just use a tricked out blog template (again, free hosting) as their professional site. You don't have to rely on anyone else to get your practice set up!

I'm sure that you will find a wealth of information here on this forum, on some economical (FREE!) solutions for your practice before you have to spend money. Be sure to read, read and read some more...if you can't find what you need, don't hesitate to ask, the members on the site are phenomenal with their support and guidance!

Hi Sarah and welcome. There is a lot of info here so grab a coffee and a pen, you'll need it. I agree with Tess, there are other ways of getting a web presence that isn't going to cost a lot.
Be Sure to look around you will get a wealth of information on starting your new venture. There are many of us of have proof that this is a viable business and there is a market for us. Good luck!

I just realized I'm getting a very nice expense check from my current job so I'm going to deposit some of it to get an official website going in April. I guess I have between now and then to finish designing it. What are your guys' thoughts on logos? Right now I don't have an official logo, but I'm using my desktop publishing skills, with fonts, colors and effects to still give myself an image. I would like to wait for a logo when I have cash flow. I'm about to dive into the resources you all mentioned... i'll be gone for awhile I'm sure. Thanks again.
Welcome and Hay Sarah! Sounds like you have a plan, it's sortof what I did, saved and purchased some of what I needed as time went by...plus I'm following Dave Ramsey's advice and trying to be debt free!
My Mom lives in Jackson! She's off of North & Ganson Streets, how far are you from there? The boys and I might be going up for a couple days next week, maybe we can meet cha!

I am new as well. You will find everything you need on this forum. And surprisingly enough, if you have a computer and printer you have half of the battle. There are excellent finds here such as teleconferences on different subjects for starting your own business to marketing your business. If you do a search you will find many wonderful things here. Good luck and remember if you have any questions ask, ask and ask again.
