Hello everyone! My name is Alyssia Jones and I am new to the VA world. I am from Wasilla, Alaska and currently work for the State of Alaska. I decided to open up my own business because my work program will be shutting down and also I soon will have no childcare for my 2 kids. Anyhow, honestly the only thing I knew about women working from home was for medical billing. I am so excited that I found a forum for VAs! Now I just have to figure my way around the forum.

A little bit my business is.. well, I haven’t even came up with a name yet or even know where to start. Pretty much I know to get a business license and insurance-that’s it. Yep I am brand new baby here. I have so many ideas but no clue what to go after first. One of my ideas

is to even offer onsite secretary services. Not sure how that will go over, but figured that’s a way to get my foot in the door.

Thank you so much for allowing me to be part of a great VA community. Now, I gotta find that pavement to hit the road running.

Hi Alyssia, welcome to the community

There are actually a lot of members who initially join the forum not even knowing what a VA is, although they've been working virtually for however long already.

You're in great company here so make yourself at home and don't be shy about posting your own questions and comments to the boards.

Congratulations on taking the first steps toward your business goals! You're in the right place for information and encouragement, so make the most of it and keep us posted on how things are going for you

Thanks so much Tess for the encouragement! I feel a bit overwhelmed right now with this new change but I am sure it will work out for the best. I just downloaded the packet and it has helped out a ton. Thank you for all your hard work in the forum.
