Default A new mobile assistant on this board
Hi, all and thanks for letting me join in here. I'm a Mobile/Virtual Assistant in Charlotte, NC. If you're in the Charlotte, NC area, I'd love to get together for coffee to meet sometime. I think the "in person" relationships as much as the virtual ones.

I've been in business almost 6 years, but have just started getting involved in the online communities. Lots of super people and super information.

Hi, ladies (and some gentlemen, I assume). I think I mentioned I've been in business almost 6 years (March is my annual anniversary). It's been a really fun six years, although the phone did get mighty quiet for six weeks around Thanksgiving this year.

I actually call myself a Mobile Administrative Assistant because all my clients are here in the Charlotte, NC area. I've met them all, work both in their home offices and in mine. My split is 60% work from home, 40% work "on location." I think I'm also a professional organizer waiting to break free, because I usually start my business relationship with clients by getting their home offices organized and then staying on to keep them that way. I do plenty of the normal administrative work (filing, faxing, data entry, correspondence, proofreading) but I also work on projects with my clients, I travel with a couple of them to meetings (sort of as a personal assistant, I guess), do plenty of writing, and plenty of online research to prepare reports and proposals.

Like I said, it's been a fun six years and I look forward to at least six more! Being self-employed has been such a life-changing, and life-expanding experience for me.

Thanks for asking! And I'm always interested in the services other VA's offer that I don't even know about yet. Do share!

Hi Angela, I had a quick peek at your website and just wanted to say that I absolutely LOVE your tagline at the top of the home page. What a high-energy, and truly unique way to promote your services

Thanks! It came in flash of inspiration when I was really thinking about how self-employment made me *feel.*

Hi Angela and welcome to the forums!

I'm still in the research and planning phase so it's always encouraging for me to read about other successful assistants. Your post about what services you offered caught my attention and I was hoping I could ask you a few questions?

I'm interested in offering/becoming a professional organizer and I'm wondering if you don't mind sharing how you started doing that. What I mean is, did you have to get formal training or have prior experience? I enjoy organizing things but I'm curious how I should start going about that since I never done it "professionally." If a client asked for references or examples (Do they even ask for that stuff?), I don't have anything to give them so I'm just curious how you started.

Hi and welcome! I have in the past did a percentage in the office and the rest at home. It is a nice sometimes to get "out of the house" - especially if you are the only one home.
