New Member from Northern California
Hello, my name is Robin and I'm from Northern California. My background has been in dental practice management for over 20 years. Currently I work independently assisting doctors with new practice set-up, staff training, temp work, etc. About two years ago I assisted a new doctor, from my home, with his laptop and office cell phone. Once the office opened, I set up his front office and stayed on board for a year and an half. It was a little over my committment of 1 year. Now, I've been working for an oral surgeon from my home and it's worked out great! Because of my husband's work, I needed something that would fit into "his" schedule. When I was working "in-office" full-time, it was very hard on our family during the summer months (he works for the fire service). The more and more I thought about it, I would just keep doing what I'm doing....helping doctors, as needed, when needed and I've been busy just word of mouth. Then I came across a blog about VA's and the light bulb moment happend. This is it! VA for dentistry. I just purchased three domain names from Godaddy.com.
I'm not sure if I should post my questions here, or start a new thread. So, here it goes. If I need to I can post them somewhere else....just let me know.
What would be your top 10 items to get together when starting:
1. Practice name
2. Purchase domain
3. EIN or TIN
4. Business License
5.
6.
7.
8.
9.
10.
Secondly, has anyone ever used the website tonight from godaddy and liked it? I've used it once for my son and it was easy. I'm just not sure I want something that someone else may have. Should I find a graphics person to start working with...then come up with a webpage? I found a website here from someone in Austraila and loved it! I've emailed her and am hoping to receive a reply. What am I looking at cost wise for a graphics person???
Thanks in advance for any replies!!! Robin

Re: New Member from Northern California
Thanks Tess for your reply. Yes, I have printed out the link for the top 10+ tips. I'm wondering if many of you have networked with VA's in your local area? The reason I ask is that I found another VA who's interest is in weddings. BTW, I love her home intro webpage! Anyhow, I've pm'd her to see if we can connect and share ideas, etc. I would understand that most would not want to do this if they are working towards the same clients. She's in Sacramento, CA and I'm in Lincoln, CA. So were pretty close. I will post my questions in another forum. I'm quickly trying to get my posts up to 25, so my PM will be sent to this other VA. Thanks again!

Hi Robin and Welcome to the forum -
Glad your here and hope you enjoy. There is so much valuable information here.
I cant speak for others, but I wouldnt have a problem with sharing resources and information..with other VA's in my area or my niche. I enjoy helping others. I look at it as we all can benefit from each other
Look forward to chatting with you on the boards.
Once Again,

Re: New Member from Northern California
Thanks Kena for your warm welcome! You are correct, there is so much information on this forum. I've found that I need to get up to speed on getting my 25 posts, since there's an area that I can't access until I do so.
I agree I wouldn't have a problem sharing resources and information with outhers in my area. I have another colleague who I share things with. She uses a different dental software and doesn't do VA-type things...Online work, etc. So, were the same but different.
Thanks again!
Robin

Re: New Member from Northern California
Hi there and welcome!!!!!
I use website tonight with godaddy and I like it. I am still trying to get used to everything because I am not website savvy, but its fairly inexpensive - $4.95/mo to use it and not have the ads at the top.
