Am new to VA but have been an accountant for over 15 years and I am excited to start on this new venture. I have my first clients (2) starting on August 1st and was doing some research and found this wonderful site. I see you are all very helpful and looking forward to belonging to the team here.
I'm not an "accountant" per se (never taken the bar exam), but have been to college (1991) for this specifically because I've done bookkeeping for a lot of years (20+) and felt it necessary. Not wanting to "waste" all my skills, (Accounting/bookkeeping included) and after a lot of research on my part, I discovered virtual assistance and it led me to these wonderful forums. You're gonna love it here!
Thanks for the welcome! Never took the bar exam either ( CPA ) but did have the guts to pass CMA and EA. Looking forward to growing the VA part of my business so I can quit my day job and be home more when my family needs me.
Welcome Robyn. I have found this to be a wonderful forum. I am so glad to see so many diverse VA's. My business will mostly focus on customer support along with light administrative tasks. It is good to see a few VA's who specialize in accounting for you never know when a potential client may need the specific expertise of a VA with an accounting background.

lol, I just kinda jumped right in. Just couldn't believe the amount of information here and found I could share and give suggestions even though I am new to the VA world. This is just awesome how everyone is helping everyone here. Goes to show that there is enough work out there for everyone or people wouldn't be so willing to share their knowledge and help everyone out.
It's exciting to have so many 'bean counters' joining us! I am constantly trying to educate potential clients about the fact that we DON'T have to be 'in their office, in their way, and in their face' to do quality bookkeeping and accounting work. There is strength in numbers! Welcome!
