I want to be a VA
Hello,

I want to go to work in my pajamas and be in charge of my destiny.
I've long considered being a VA, but have not had the eagerness to begin, mostly from lack of related knowledge. I have many skills, which I believe would be useful.

What is my first step? I'm currently working full-time and before I abandon my current position, I must try it out to see if this is correct course of action for me. Is it possible to be a Virtual Assistant while working full time?

Hi there and welcome to the boards.
Being a VA isn't really something you can 'try out' per se as a true VA is a business owner who takes his or her business development and success seriously.
There are numerous VAs who work to create their practices while they work in jobs outside the home and then transition out of the job and into the VA business full time - but that is dependent on how much they put into marketing to and securing clients.

I'd suggest spending some time reading through the posts here on the forums for more information.

Best of luck in all you do!

Hi there,
Tess is right it is a little hard to try out. As it will be your business you kinda need to jump in and give it a go. There are a lot of people who have built their businesses whilst still working full-time, however that takes committment to be able to market and then be committed enough to continue working when you get home from work or work on the weekends. Just depends on what you want out of the business I guess as to how much you want to put in.

There are heaps of experienced VA's on this forum and there are heaps of websites with great information, just a whole lot of reading and ask questions. I have found that this is the best way to learn and get a feel for the industry.

Good luck

Hi,

Welcome to the forum. Yes, Tess is right. I started my VA business while I was working full time, but that was because I needed the money to purchase the necessary items needed to staff a business office. Believe me, it wasn't easy. It takes a lot of "blood, sweat and tears" to start and maintain your own business. So, don't come into this thinking that it's easy, it's definitely not.

I would suggest the same as Tess, look over all of the posts on this forum and then read anything about Virtual Assistants that you can get your hands on. Don't get me wrong, I am not trying to discourage you, but you need to know that building a business is hard work.

Good luck and is you have questions, post them on these boards and you'll get some great answers.

Take care.
