Default Hiya from Florida
Hello everyone,

I'm Alunasa from Florida, and I've been an administrative assistant for about six years now. I stumbled into Virtual Assisting by mistake when I applied for a job with a web developer. I was working out of his home and wasn't comfortable there so he suggested that we try working online and I loved it.

My husband has the perfect Telecommuting job and entirely by accident. I'm so jealous. His boss is very understanding that we both go to college and although his business keeps regular hours, he's often able to be very flexible. I'm in between jobs at the moment and it's driving me crazy, having nothing to do again so I decided to come here and see what I could find.

I'm curious how you normally find Virtual Assistant jobs because both myself and my husband ended up working ours by accident after either applying to or working for a conventional employer.

Also, as Tax season draws closer, we'll be needing some guidance there as well.

-Alunasa

Hi Alunasa It's great to have you here, welcome to the community!

I'm sure you'll find the forums are full of useful information that in one way or another will help you grow your practice and your clientele, but as far as finding clients in the first place most VAs (at least the ones I kniow) spend at least one hour a day on marketing and networking.

We have an entire section devoted to the topic, so that might be a good place to start. I'd strongly suggest going through older posts in each of the forum sections initially, just to see what information you can glean from exisitng conversations (and of course to add your own opinions, thoughts, or questions.)

Have you considered asking your existing (or previous) clients and/or coworkers for a solid referal? Often times the best new clients come through those who have already worked with you.

I'll look forward to hearing more from you

I suppose that I'm still approaching this as if I'm working for them, especially because that's how the web master treated our work. With a full college schedule, I was hoping to find one person or company and hopefully work with them for a long while.

I'll check out the section you linked to. Thanks for the help.

Hi Alunasa,

We've "chatted" on other threads, but I thought I'd post an official welcome anyway. Good to have you here!
