Hi From The Snowy State of Maine
Hi everyone,
My name is Terri, and I am way up here in the NE corner of the US. I have just recently started, (or at least attempting to start), my VA, (also REVA), business. I am having abit of a struggle to get it off the ground for numerous reasons.... I spent a LOT of time researching and deciding on the best way to go about my website and FINALLY found one that I decided to go with. Please feel free to give any suggestions and/or feedback on my website, ( www.upperhandofficesolutions.c om).
I have a 19 yr old son who is currently a Private/E2 in the Army and is stationed out in Ft Hood TX. Because, he has orders to deploy to Iraq on 03/12/08, I've had a hard time focusing on my business and spending the time needed to get it off the ground. I will be flying out to see my son next week, 03/05. My goal is to, upon my return, to roll up my sleeves and get going with my business.
These VA forums are absolutely one of my best tools!
Thanks!!
Terri

Hi Terri, welcome to the community
Feel free to post a review request for your site in the Website Review section.
We have at least one other member that I know of who has a son around your age who is already deployed in Iraq....can't imagine what it must be like to have to process that, as a mother...wishing you and your son the best.
Looking forward to chatting with your further!

Welcome! Wishing you and your son the best, and with prayers. Please excuse me for asking, what I am curious what REVA is?
Again, welcome to the group.

Thank you so much for your kind words!! I am "surfing" the forum and finding it to be very helpful!! A REVA is a Real Estate Virtual Assistant, and I have worked in this industry for the past 4 yrs, and am a certified REPA, (Real Estate Professional Assistant).
Headed over to the website review section.
Thanks again!!

Re: Hi From The Snowy State of Maine
Terri, it is certainly understandable that you're unable to focus on your business while having to think about seeing your son off. I have two sons ages 18 and 20, so of course my heart is with you.
You'll have plenty of time to focus on the business when you get back. If I can assist in anyway, please let me know.
Welcome to the forum!

Re: Hi From The Snowy State of Maine
Welcome. I understand how hard it is focusing on building a VA practice when your child is in the service.
My (just turned last week) 20-yr-old son, and only child, Pvt. Christopher J. Andersen, is also "technically" stationed at Ft. Hood, TX although he has been in Mosul, Iraq since the end of November; he is with Killer Troop, 3rd Armored Cavalry.
There were days I was worried sick about him after he deployed (when reading the papers and reports from Mosul) but I finally just accepted that even though I can't protect him, God can.
In a strange way, having Goddess in which to invest my time and energy has really helped me deal with my son's deployment and gives me something positive to share with him.
Once your son is settled at his overseas base, he will be able to email and phone you on a regular basis. It is amazing what just getting (and giving) a quick - I'm ok email can do to help bolster both of your spirits! I also send him packages of goodies about every 6 weeks (US Postal Priority Mail Flat Rate Box - cram it full for a flat $8.95!)
Don't ever hesitate to email or im me if you just need to talk. You can pm me for my contact info once you have 25 posts on this forum.

Re: Hi From The Snowy State of Maine
Hi all,
I have to clarify, (it sounds like I'm a single mother).... I DO have a wonderful and very supportive husband!! It's great that we are all together in this and that we can stick together and help each other through it!! Dad is able to talk to our son in times that Mom just can't, (which makes my heart weep, BUT.... at least he can talk to one of us)!! He is our only child and we both cherish him!!
Thanks again for all your kindness!!

Nope, I completely understand! I, too, am married to a wonderful, supportive man. He is actually Chris's stepdad and came into our lives when Chris was 9. Still, the whole idea of "our babies are playing with guns" is terrifying! I have found it sometimes helps to talk to someone other than the hubby, however. We moms need to stick together!

My heart goes out to you as well!! I am VERY familiar with the flat rate mail boxes, and in fact, I believe they just came out with larger boxes that are $12.95 and the PO is offering discounts for any packages sent to soldiers on top of that, (it's about time!).
Thank you for your support, and I just may take you up on the communications back & forth!! I will PM you as soon as I can. It's very hard up here in Maine, as there are no military bases and no support groups, and very few who are going through what we are. I am trying to get a small group together as there are a few in my area, (within a 50 mile radius).
Thanks again, and I look forward to hearing from you and chatting with you in the future!!
Terri

Re: Hi From The Snowy State of Maine
Thanks! Living in Boulder, CO I find most of my neighbors are so completely anti-war that I don't tell anyone here that my son is in the Army. I find the most support available is on-line!
I appreciate the info on the bigger box as I'm "cramming" one together right now w/paperback books, beef jerky, crystal light, candy for the Iraqi kids, etc.
You will find that this forum will provide the same incredible level of support for building your practice that the Army mom's provide with coping with our kids being in the service. I'm glad you found us.
