Hello, my name is Kathy. I'm a wife, mother of 2 and, currently, full-time employee. This summer, however, I'm planning to begin my own business from my home. My 20+ years of experience (including 3 years working from my home) have prepared me well for this new phase and I am anxious to begin!

I'm thrilled to have found this forum and hope that knowledge sharing and access like this will help my transition back to working from home.

I welcome any and all comments, suggestions and warnings of pitfalls ahead!

I look forward to getting to know all of you.

No warnings here - just lots of encouragement and support as you work toward your goal.

I started my own practice totally from scratch (without the benefit of much admin experience and really just the will to make it happen), so am the last person who's going to try to point out the negatives (there aren't really any anyway

) As long as you stick with it and treat being a VA as what it is - a full-fledged business, you'll do just fine. You've got a ton of experience and skill to back up your business plan so I say - go for it!

Hi Kathy, welcome from another Kathie and mother of 5. Definitely the best industry to be in - I have over 14 years in this business and have watched my daughters grow up during that time. No regrets, other than I should have started sooner and been more serious much more quickly!

It's so nice meeting you Kathy. Welcome aboard! It sounds like you are on a very good start with your business according to your experience.

I also have 2 children at home and being a VA enables me to work and being with my children which is one of the best thing of being a home business owner!

Have you came up with a niche yet for your business?

You have a great spread of newbies and veterans to the VA industry represented on the forum, so take advantage of the information and enjoy the "virtual" relationships that you will develop from the forum.

Hey there, fellow North Carolinian! Very glad to see you here. I started up last November (bringing 30 years of administrative experience to the venture) and am still scrambling for clients, but really loving it. Welcome aboard!
