Hello,

I'm new here and really have no idea where to begin. I will start reading through posts and exploring the site. I had a niece that was a virtual administrative assistant and am wanting to pursue either that or a virtual bookkeeper. She said she just managed emails and the business calendar, etc. I work at home now, but for a company, remotely, so this would be different I'm sure, but then again maybe similar in some respects. I started out as a Premium Auditor (I still do audit appointments), then became the assistant to my manager, who also works remotely from another State. The main thing I do now is review other Auditor's audits, so it is a bit different, I'm sure, than what I am exploring here in the VA arena. We are very slow now, and I have to start branching out and getting new ideas. But I definitely want to pursue this and hope this website can lead me in the right direction!

I just wanted to say thank you!! I appreciate the encouraging words very much! I guess you're right, I'm already working as a virtual assistant, lol. Now the trick is finding more work. But it is good that I do have this experience I've gained to bring to the table for the future! Thanks again.

Thank you for the welcome! I look forward to chatting, learning, and sharing when I can, with everyone. I have a ways to go it seems to understand how everything can come together.

I wondered, how many VA jobs do you think consist of working for another company? Or do you think that most VA's own their own business? I have been searching for so long on job sites (like Monster, etc.) and set up my searches for remote, or virtual, or work at home, etc. I have not really seen anything except of course those spam type job offers. I think I'd actually like to work for a company, wouldn't that be easier? I'm just at a loss on how to find a good, legitimate, VA job right now. There may be other job search websites that would be more geared toward finding a good match for a VA?
