Default Hi from Australia
Hi,
I've recently set up a VA business from home, for me there were many reasons to go down this path 1. I've been doing administrative work for over 13 years and just love this type of work, 2. I want a lifestyle where I can work hard but play hard too and spend time with my family and 3. I want to see my business grow and develop interest from other VAs. I'd love to know other people's motivations/driving force that caused them to set up their own VA business and of course any other advice you can give me as a newbie to the VA industry?

Hi Kirsty, welcome to the community It's great to have you here!

I can relate to many of the reasons you started your virtual assistance practice.
I also love being home with my little daughter (and my husband/business partner) - working for ourselves has been challenging but so incredibly rewarding.

One quick aside - I took a peek at your site and noticed the page title on the home page has a typo 'All Roung' instead of 'All Round' (actually, it looks like it's the same page title throughout the site) Just thought you might like to know.

I'll look forward to chatting with you on the forums - see you around the boards!

Hi Jess,
Thanks for responding. I looked at the page title on the home page, couldn't see a typo though?!?! Unless I'm not looking at the same part you're talking about but I re-read through the whole website and couldn't find the typo you're referring to.....rather odd!! :-)

Thanks again, feel free to pass me any advice, all is welcome!
Kirsty

Your page titles are in the code, so maybe not obvious in whatever browser you're using, but they should show up in the 'tab' at the top of your page (not actually ON your website)

Google will grab your page titles though, so you'll definitely want to fix this or your search returns will show the typo.

Here's a screenshot of what I see when I look at your site in Firefox - note the tab at the top.

Hope that helps!

As far as advice - my best advice is to make the most of the information on this site. Ask questions, get involved, network with this amazing community of VAs!

My advice is to find a couple of very good mentors. They will do much to help you go in the right direction and the referrals are invaluable. I wish you the best in your new business ventures.

Thanks Jess, know what you mean now and got it fixed, thanks for that!! :-)
Hi Cyndi, when you say mentor, do you mean a business coach as we have a local business coach service here I was thinking of talking to?
