Default Hello! ~from a proud CHEESEHEAD
Good morning all! I'd like to start by saying that I am very, very new to this whole "virtual assistant" thing. I am reading and learning as I am going but do find it a bit overwhelming at times. If there are any seasoned veterans out there please share your secrets!

Hi Julie, welcome to the forums
I think you'll find the community here is a wide range of aspiring and established VAs (plus everything in between). You're in good company so don't be shy about posting your questions and comments to the boards.

My best advice to you at the stage that you're at (information gathering) is to get organized. Start taking notes, if you aren't already, as you read through the boards and come across information or to-dos that you'll need to use or implement for your own business. This will help you create an action plan for getting your business set up and beyond the start-up phase.

Wishing you much success!

Thanks! I'm kind of all over the place! I have been taking notes and making "to do" lists but I feel like I have a million things going on at once!

I did offer my services temporarily free of charge to a friend of mine, now I'm wondering if I did that waaayyyy to early in this process.

I'm not a seasoned veteran, but can tell you it took me a good 4 months before I was comfortable launching my business, which BTW, was today! And you are right, there is alot to consider, but I think that is a sign you are on the right track by taking this seriously. So don't feel bad about having all these things going on at once because your hard work will eventually come together and provide you with a good start to your business.

From what I have learned in this forum, its super important to build your reputation and value, so giving free service to your friend might pay off if you can get a good testimonial from them and post it on your site.
