Default Hello from Ohio
I am Michelle Whitt from Ohio...single mom of 3.

I am taking a Microsoft Publisher class online through the local community college. We posted getting to know you's in the class forum, and a lady taking the class with me has her own VA business and she gave me this website address.

I have been interested in doing this for so long, but haven't quite had the nerve to start doing anything about it. This forum from what I have read so far is such a great motivator. There are days when I feel competent to do this then there are days when I don't, mostly due to the fact of being a single mom and in need of that weekly paycheck. I am an Office Manager, I have my Associated degree in Accounting and a Certificate in Travel and Tourism. I am addicted to Genealogy and love Photography.

I look forward to reading and learning more about this business and getting started finally.

Welcome Michelle!

You will find a tremendous amount of support here. One of the biggest obstacles we all face, or have faced, is believing in ourselves.
Take your time and learn everything you can.
You'll know when you are ready to make the "big jump".

Be sure to ask any questions as we all love to help.

Hi Michelle,
I have no doubt that if you can make a success out of being a single mom (and balancing your work life as well) you can make a smashing success of a virtual assistance practice!

Good to know you're already finding posts on the site that motivate you - you'll also find lots of information that will help you with the start up process. And of course if you have any questions or comments you should always feel free to jump right in.

Being a single Mom is scarry enough all by itself. I've been there, done that!!

You can start doing a little marketing research and planning for future possibility of becoming a VA. Maybe take on a small client.

I've been a single Mom but have been doing well - it takes time and certainly we wouldn't be rich overnight with loads of clients - but with time and patience, you will have decent flow of clients.

You CAN do it. Single or not - anything in the world is possible. All you have to do is dream, believe and go for it.

I'll be cheering you on!

Hi Michelle,

Welcome!!

You do have a full plate, but if you're determined to do this then you will succeed.

You seem to have a lot of great skills to bring to your business. As for needing that weekly paycheck. There are a great number of VA's on the forum who start out working as a VA as well as their other job and then are able to quit their J.O.B.

Regards,
Deirdre

Hi Michelle! I am from Ohio too. What part you are in? Maybe we can get together some day for lunch or something.

Dayton/Cincinnati area...

Currently I live in West Chester, but my BF live in the Dayton area, which I am originally from (Kettering), so I plan to move here as soon as I can. I was hoping this summer, but it may be a little longer than that.

It's only about a 40 min drive to his house and most of my family is here.

Where are you from?

That is great! Not too far away!

My boyfriend works in Tipp City at the Honda dealership.

We'll have to plan something one of these days soon.
