Default Hello from MI
Hi everyone:

I wanted to introduce myself. My name is Michelle Knight and I am from St. Johns, MI. My business name is Mid-Knight Business Solutions and I have been a VA since 2004 but 2 1/2 yrs ago, I had to go back to work full-time. I currently work at Michigan State University but always had the notion that I would return to this business full-time. We are currently trying to have children and that is the whole reason why I started this business.

I am in the midst of trying to get my business up and running again along with doing all of the research of trying to attract clients - I think this was my mistake before... not doing my research and just jumped into it. I am hoping to just work at MSU part-time and then make the transition to this business full-time.

Any of you veteran VA's would like to give me some helpful hints or where a good place to go for VA jobs - that would be great!

Michelle

Welcome Michelle! I would have given my right arm to be able to work for myself when my son was small (back in the dark ages of technology, 32 bit computers and no such thing as internet).

There is a great deal of information here, so the best advice I can give is read, read, read....

Hi Michelle Kathy's right - this site is a great place to start gathering information and brainstorming ideas in regards to setting up your VA business. (Remember, virtual assistants are business owners NOT employees - so you're not looking for 'jobs' but *clients*)

Take your time reading through the various forum topics, and best of luck to you!

Yes, this is a wealth of information! I am becoming overloaded but trying to take it one day at a time. Yes, we are looking for clients instead of jobs and I need to realize that.

Thanks~

Michelle

Hi Michelle,

When I first discovered this site, I was sooooo overwhelmed with information. I wandered around from topic to topic. At some point I began to make list of important tasks/steps necessary to get things moving. That's when everything started to fall into place and I was able to cross tasks off the list. Otherwise I wondered around this site so much that I'd spend entire days searching all sorts of topics, by the end of the day, I'd have the biggest migraine because of the wealth of information here. I was literally loosing sleep, as the information and excitement would keep me up! This is a wonderful site!

Good luck to you!

Sharice

Yes, I was beginning to start loosing sleep as well. Since I started my business awhile ago, I have alot already done. I just need the marketing side and how to get clients. I ordered some books that was suggested to give me some pointers. I am also redoing my website as well and bring things up-to-date. I am working diligently to get up and running again.

Thanks for all of your support!

Michelle
