Hello. I have always wanted to work virtually online since high school! I went to school for school counseling and have my masters in that, however, lack of opportunities and a dislike for the social services after working it has led me back to working as an administrative assistant.

My goal even as a counselor was to one day have my own 'virtual office' so to think I can do my administrative assistant duties online is an awesome idea and dream come true. I have the advantages of web design and maintenance experience as I have been doing that for quite some time in my free time.

I am a newlywed and no kids yet, but that was my ultimate goal, to have a work from home business so I can stay home with my children yet contribute financially. I am also quite an introvert in person, but rather extroverted online. So I look forward to getting to know everyone here.

I have ordered the book the 2 second commute to give me a guide on how to start. Until I am started and have a client or two i plan on sticking with my current position. I hope to learn from the people here on how to set rates and then what I need to do for taxes and general advice and expertise.

I would like to eventually have my own business but I think I want to start with an organization at first to help transition.

I don't know. Well I am off to bed, I have my 'real' job tomorrow. That is one thing I am most looking forward to, working my own hours. I am NOT a morning person and would be nocturnal if possible and with this job I will be able to NOT have to be across town at 8am. :P

Thanks for the warm welcome! I am learning so much reading on here I feel I have nothing to contribute, yet I notice that some boards are restricted to posts over 25. oh well.

Oh and I'm in Cedar Rapids...Sitting high and dry after the flood, but my workplace was totally submerged. I learned a lot with the flood recovery though.

I think you are being very sensible with your business plan. From what I can gather it takes a while to build up your client group.

I'm setting up my business now whilst working full time (as a legal secretary) and plan to work mostly evening and weekends.

This site seems very friendly and I am looking forward to learning lots here.
