Default Hello from Houston, TX
Good Afternoon To You All,

Hello, my name is Raquel Johnson and I recently started my own VA business in Houston, TX. I specialize in marketing research and payroll solutions. I graduate from UH-CL this year with a bachelors degree in accounting. I have 10 years of experience working as an administrative assistant and typist and am truly excited about my future in business. I am absolutely amazed by the amount and wealth of knowledge posted on this forum. I would personally like to thank all of you experienced VA's for the many tips that you have given me.

I would like to invite you all to check out my website www.paramountvirtualoffice.com. I really would like to know what you think. The real truth is greatly appreciated.

Thanks Bunches,

Raquel Johnson

Hi Raquel! Glad you found us Thanks for taking the time to introduce yourself.

You're in excellent company here so don't be shy about sharing your own opinions and questions on the boards. There are lots of great conversations to jump into, and of course you're most welcome to start new ones too.

I just had a quick peek at your site and on first glance might suggest moving the ads and affiliate links to a page of their own, 'Resources' or similar. You could even write a short blurb about each product or service, explaining why you believe each would benefit your potential clients and website visitors. I think lots of ads on the front page of a business website can detract from the professionalism. To get more direct feedback about your website, try a post in the Website Review Requests section.

Hi Rachel & welcome to the board! Wow, a new poster & you jump off the deep end with a request for a website review! Bravo!

Here's my feedback. I like the banner photo. It conveys that the person not in motion has everything under control. I like the colors, too. However it is a little large.

Your home page is way too text intensive. I'm kind of smiling, cuz I posted something just last week when I realized how text intensive my home page was & how difficult it is to whittle your words down! I think the marketing types would advise against having so much text fall below the bottom of the screen & to create more pages if that is the case. Hopefully someone will weigh in on this.

So in spite of the fact that I'm not a marketing type, here's what I would do. Your first three paragraphs on your home page are good(!) but they need to be in the upper section so people see them (or most of them) without scrolling. You have lots of FAQs on your home & about pages - maybe put all of those on a FAQ page. I would give Rates & Terms their own page & I would also put the calculator section with the rates page. These suggestions are based on viewing dozens & dozens of other VA sites. Not that you have to do things like other VAs do.

Why do you have ads along the right side of your home page? Whether you are getting something from these or not, it doesn't look professional IMO. If these are items you are selling, then you need to set up a shop & maybe display one item per page, but not your whole catalog.

I didn't click on all the links on your resources page, but the few I did click on take the user away from your site. These links should open a new window, not take your visitor away from your window!

I hope I didn't scare you away! You have a good start & some excellent content - just move it around a little & you'll be rockin'.

I look forward to getting to know you better & learning about your business!

Lezly

Oh! I just realized I wrote 'Rachel' instead of Raquel - my apologies... that's what I get for trying to do too many things at once. Either way, my welcome was sincere... my apologies!
