Hello everyone I am new and open to how to become successful being a VA. Can someone give me some pointers. I have always worked administrative businesses and helping my husband but now moving forward in starting my own now. All suggestions welcome, thank you all so much.

Do you know what your niche is? Once you know that you can figure out your target market and it makes it easier to find clients.

Hi and welcome to the forum Congratulations on taking the first steps toward creating your virtual assistance business!

I would have to say that one of the 'keys' to success as a virtual assistant is to truly invest in the development of your own business before expecting clients to pay you to help them with theirs. If you provide a professional persona (and can back it up with quality products and services) you'll find that your clients will do much of your marketing FOR you, via referrals.

Use the information on the boards to your advantage - there is a lot that goes into creating a VA business, but everything you need to do that is right here.

One pointer that I can offer for getting started is to get involved in promoting your business but not in an advertorial way. In other words, just by being here and interacting with other members will greatly help in getting your business off the ground.

I can personally vouch that the members here have encouraged and advised me (and continue to do so) to fine-tune my business and find the clients I want to work with.

Blogging is a great way to get the word out about your expertise and the services you provide without being a blatant advertisement. Plus, the winner of the contest can have their business advertised for free (for three months) here on VAF which is a highly regarded website in this industry.

If you have a blog, I suggest getting that going. Then link those posts to your social media statuses. If you don't have a blog, one of the other prizes being offered is a book by Scott McNulty which can help you to create an awesome WordPress blog.
