Hello from Central NY (formerly of Alaska) - Virtual Assistant Forums

Hi all,
I'm very excited to join this forum and to learn more about this field. My family just moved to central NY from SE Alaska due to my mother-in-law's recent diagnosis of cancer. I'm adjusting to the change of moving here as well as learning how not to work full-time. I have two boys, four and two and a former search and rescue border collie who is now retired and deaf - all of which keep me company during the day.

I used to be a manager for a cancer screening program for a tribal health organization and now am going into the exciting field of VAs. I'm here to learn from you and share what I know as well. I know one thing I need to explore is how to set up a business as I am (very) new to this.

Welcome! You are about 2 1/2 hrs west of me. I'm located in Saratoga county. Big change from Alaska, huh?

You'll find everyone here to be very helpful and full of info so just ask.

So sorry your move had to be due to your MIL's cancer diagnosis. Prayers for a speedy recovery for her and a successful business for you!

My grandmother and her friend spent several months in Alaska this summer. They raved at how beautiful it is there. I was so jealous! LOL

Thanks for the replies. Alaska is a very beautiful place - nothing really compares to it but upstate NY does have it's own beauty. It has been a big adjustment coming here - the biggest one is not working, staying at home with kids, worry about parents both near and far and trying to start up working in this field.

Hi Roz - I too am from upstate, outside of Rochester. Welcome to the forums - you will find it to be your 'go to' place for information. Everyone is so helpful and the loads of tips, tricks, links, etc can keep you busy reading for weeks!
Thoughts are with you and your family - best of luck w/your venture and maybe we can organize an upstate meetup sometime

Hello Ladies,

I am from Upstate New York also and I am looking to set up a meet-up for all VAs that are in Upstate. I have created an Upstate New York VA group here in the forum you guys are more than welcome to join and we can all talk and see if there are others from Upstate NY that we can talk to and maybe set up a meeting.
