Hi Everyone, I have just started researching my VA business, no name yet but have been working on my business plan with the hope of starting up slowly and working a regular job to keep a roof over our heads. I landed my first job today16 hours per week in online marketing. It is very exciting and I am looking forward to being my own boss eventually. My background is in medical administration. I am still working out what I will offer but is will definitely be things I love doing as well. This is a great forum full of fantastic information for new girls like me. Please say hello.

Thanks for the welcome everyone! A little bit about how I got here and the power of social media. Last week I went to see a careers guidance counsellor to help me figure out what it is I should do next having worked for medical specialists for over 20yrs and being just a little burnt out. I've had my own businesses in the past and especially love the set up, marketing and publicity phases so these areas were identified as strengths. Jenni Proctor from Career Clarity posted a comment on Facebook asking if anyone needed a personal assistant or VA. Julie Mason from Social Media Princess has employed me to help her with her businesses - she is awesome, has so much brilliant knowledge about LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, SEO etc. So far it is only about 2 days per week but I hope to gain other opportunities as well. I am like a sponge! So much to learn but I just love it. I have to say that it is scary changing careers and doing something completely different but it is very exciting. I am a sole parent of two glorious teenagers, Luther 16yrs and Amalia 14yrs. I am currently working fulltime as a practice manager for a fertility specialist/gynaecologist and fitting Julie in around that. Wading through molasses today - bring on the weekend. I met someone at a networking event whose sister was an MOA who wasn't sure there would be many online opportunities. I think the opportunities are growing daily.
