Default Greetings from the UK!
I've been reading this forum for the last month or so and have finally signed up. I had been waiting until I decide on my business name and sign up with that as my username but I still can't settle on a name!

Starting a VA business has been at the back of my mind for the past 4 years or so, ever since one of the Board members at work started working with one. I've now decided to really go for it and I'm half way through my business plan and aim to be in business from April 2011.

I currently work as a PA to two directors and will continue to do so until my VA business has a steady income. I have a 15 hour train commute each week and will use some of that time to work with my first clients. It is a bit daunting trying to build a business whilst working full time but I know people have done it.

I'm looking forward to getting to know the other VAs on here and hear from other aspiring VAs. What I've read so far has been so helpful in focusing my mind on all the tasks that need to be done!

Hi Nicola (?)

You sound so much like me - I've been pondering ways to work from home for what seems like forever, then stumbled upon this wonderful forum and it was like the world's biggest light globe moment for me!

I, too, am deciding on a business name and keep chopping and changing...I don't want to get it wrong. It's so hard to find a balance between giving some sort of clue as to what it is you do, sounding professional, relatively easy to pronounce, not too long so it fits in a web address etc etc...arrggh.

I work full time as well and am apprehensive about juggling both (I have two young kids to add to the equation). But I believe if you really want it, you will succeed. I'm a PA too; have been for 22+ years, so I know I have the skills, just need to get this all sorted out and get the clients!

Anyway, just wanted to say hello and let you know you're not the only one feeling a bit apprehensive

We CAN do it!!!

Keri

Hello, thanks for the welcome.

Finding a name is hard! I've thought of some only to do a quick google to find someone has already thought of it. I figure it will come to me eventually and just keep ploughing on with my planning.

Nicola

Hello Nicola,
First of all, WELCOME. I'm sure you'll find great resources in this forum. It's been a great help for me. I feel like I rushed in coming up with the name so I hope it pays up. I also rushed to get a website live recently that I designed myself that I hope does not look unprofessional. I believe you're right in putting a lot of though process in choosing the right name for your business and I wish you the best of luck.
Regards,
Ramiro

Hi Nicola,

I too struggled with my name as well, I wanted a name that was catchy, professional and for me was nt specific to one industry as I plan on branching out my business one day. I sought feedback from my friends, which alot suggested putting my name in the business name but I wanted it to be a sellable business in the future without the need to rebrand because of the name.

I ended up choosing Streamtic Solutions with the help of a friend and a fellow business student. Because to us it sounded like streamlining, which is eraly what our business bils down to for our clients right? streamlining their tasks, hence my tag line "Streamlining tasks and optimizing productivity"

Good luck in choosing your name.

Kimberly

Hi Nicola

I am in the UK as well and just starting out, perhaps you could start by working for your 2 directors virtually? Good luck.
