Bonjour from France...
Hello!

I'm Jo and I recently relocated to France from the UK. I used to live in the South-East (Kent) but now I live in the Vienne region of France...

I set-up my Virtual Assistant business in August after taking voluntary redundancy from my job at a University. It's been slow going, but it's only now (after the move across the channel) that I am starting to get everything in place and looking to get some clients in.

I currently use www.peopleperhour.com to get jobs, I have 2 regular clients from there at the moment, but the pay isn't great. It will be good when I get a full paying client... I will be looking for lots of tips on these forums!!

Look forward to chatting...

Jo

Hello Jo and congrats on your move to France. Do you love it? My sister and also my in-laws moved to France from England, and now live in the Charente region. They really enjoy the quiet pace of life.

You've definitely come to the right place for fabulous tips and great support. Wishing you every success with your VA business!

My Mum has lived in France for 6 years and it was only in the last year I have appreciated the way of life over here. I also met my boyfriend on my last visit so we are together now, he's French!

The business is in the early stages but I have a couple of small ongoing clients from PPH and I got a lead today from a connection on LinkedIn.

Wish I had time to come on the forums more...

Welcome Jo! You will find a lot of support here at VAF and I am looking forward to seeing your contributions as well. I am signed up with PPH but did not find any jobs wanting to pay there and have only recently joined the forums at LinkedIn -- so you see you are doing better than some -- keep on trying, you're doing great!

PPH is good in some ways, but to be honest some of the clients don't even want to pay minimum wage. I won a job last week and I had bid over their budget and I still got the job, so it's worth persevering.

Good luck with LinkedIn, I really want to use it more...

Welcome Jo. I also like your company name. I am getting up slowly too. The research is fascinating and overwhelming, but this forum has helped so much.

Congrats on your move, sounds exciting. Good luck with everything and see you around. Feel free to chat anytime.
