I love seeing these happy faces, yes, my youngest is my reason for making this career shift. She was the surprise blessing that changed everything. I am so glad to see I am not the only mom with a baby, who is crazy enough to start a business!

I can now officially say that I am a WAHM! I left the day job about a month ago - it's been a whirlwind. We went to Disneyworld the day after I left the job, then my daughter was in a play, and the last two weeks I've been entertaining her while on Christmas Break. Tomorrow I will be a free woman, so to speak, and ready to get my act together! Everyone's got some beautiful kids!!!

Hello fellow WAHMs!! I've been a SAHM since our little guy was born (actually before he was born - bed rest ), He's 4.5 now and attends preschool 3 days a week, so I enjoy some dedicated work time these days!!

I've been working from home as a VA for about four years now but have only been a mama for about five months - loving every minute of it!

Hi Ladies,

I've been a VA for the last 2.5 years, after having my little boy. I'm a SWAHM. My son was born with a hole in is heart and after dealing with the stress of that and work I quit. I started working as a VA and haven't looked back since. My son is a healthy two year old now and happily terrorizes my office on a daily basis.

Hello everyone! I've just joined this forum and am really pleased to have found you all here. I've been a freelance writer/editor working from home for 15 years, and a homeschool mum for 3 years. I always wanted to be home for my children, and working this way has made that possible; homeschooling wasn't always the plan, but it's turned out to be another great way of keeping it all at home--which works well for us. Technically I've been a VA for years, although I've only just come across the term, and have therefore only just discovered that there are dozens of you out there. I'm thrilled! Does anyone reading this also combine being a VA with homeschooling? I'd love to hear from you.

Janet, our little honey is only five and a half months old but we are planning on homeschooling/unschooling when the time comes - also thinking of joining a HS co-op so she gets some good socialization there. I'd love to hear more about your own experiences homeschooling!

Hi Everyone! I love seeing all your pics. I love working from home but it can be quite a challenge with a 2 year old hanging on me as I'm trying to work! I have three daughters who are 9, 6, 2 and they keep me quite busy when I'm not working!! I'm very blessed to have such a wonderful DH for the past 13 years!

Hello everyone. I have a quick question - I'm not a mom, but I am a VA - can I join?

Hello everyone, I'm not offically a VA, but I'm working on it so I can launch my business in the next month or so. I've been working part time at the school my daughter attends for the last 2 years. My plan is to work as a VA full time while I raise my children. I have 2 wonderful children: a girl, 6, and a boy,3. I think you guys are excellent at your profession and I'm sure you are also wonderful mothers. I'll enjoy talking to you all!!

Maria - my BEST coping advice is to let go of the things that don't *really* matter. I've gotten very good at not caring if there are dishes in the sink or laundry waiting to be done whereas I used to be a neat-freak. In the long run I think that time is better spent with my daughter and husband and on building our business. The household chores can wait - and they get done eventually! I'd love to hear from other WAHMs what your coping strategies are as well?!

Wow, I just found this group and I've been on here for about a month. I have a 4 yr old and 2 dogs, so I feel like sometimes I have 3 kids to tend to. It's been a challenge to try and figure out a "schedule", trial and error I guess, and this group will help. My husband and I are both in the military but he's deployed now. I haven't gotten my first client yet, so I'm starting to feel frustrated...

'ello 'ello 'ello! Long time assistant, first time WAHM! Actually, I am just starting this VA business after searching long and hard for a job that supports a person who has to do the school pick-up and look after a 2 year old as well! Still trying to cope with the whole Kindergarten responsibilities (who knew Kindi was THAT much work??). Anyway, I am VERY EXCITED to start this business straight away! This forum and social group looks like an excellent place to help get it all rolling. BTW - I am located in Sydney Australia (though I can legally work from USA or AU). I am wondering if there are many other's like us down here?

Nicole here. I am a WAHM based in the UK. I have 3 kids (5, 3, 3 years) - yes, you read correctly - a 5 year old and 3 year old twins. In September 09 they will all be at school till 3.15pm which will give me time to work. I haven't worked properly since the twins were born, mind you saying that I have had a VA business of sorts (with 1 or 2 very part time clients) all along, as well as having run a few online stores over the last year or so, so I haven't lost my skills.

Anyway, I am currently in the process of getting my business up and running again in the hope that by September I will have a few clients to keep me busy.
