March 2010 Blog Challenge Question

How do you drive people to your website or blog? Discuss one or more ways you have attracted people to your website or blog. Did you host a guest blog? Did you run a contest? Discuss the outcome and something you learned about the process.

If you have not put a plan in place just yet to draw folks to your website or blog, describe an idea you have yet to implement. We'd love to hear about it!

Don't be shy. VAF Blog Challenge questions are a great way to 'test the blogging waters'.

As our February 2010 winner Darlene Victoria stated, "I joined the VAF Blog Challenge group to literally help me with my blogging efforts. Before I joined the group, I had a blog or two here or there, but found it hard to come up with topics and never really remained committed to the blogs I was writing."

Darlene continues, "I look forward to the monthly blog challenges, because it helps me to focus on a particular topic, enables me to strive to become a better writer and it is yet another great way to get to know and chat with fellow VAF members here on the forum."

Our judges will look for clarity of your response, following directions, good grammar, punctuation and creativity.

Please remember to number your post in the title. So if you entered for January’s response and posted #1 in the subject title then February’s response would be ‘The Title #2’. If you posted two responses for January than February’s subject title would look like this, ‘The Title #3’.

No more than two responses are permitted per month. At the 6 post-mark you will receive the 6-post VAF Blog Badge as depicted in this thread

If you are the monthly grand prize winner, you will receive a badge AND a book selection from the extensive VAF library.

I don't yet have a website or a blog but I have just started a blog on here so does that count? SOrry if this is a silly question from a newbie! BTW thanks for having me.

That's a great question...thank you for asking.

Yes, this is your VAF blog area and considered a real blog! So, yes, please post here on VAF.

The nice thing about posting a blog on VAF is that this is good practice should you wish to create an 'outside' blog.

I am trying to find out where to post my response to the question. Do I reply here or is there another area for responses?

Good question...

If you return back to the main page and look up at the tool bar you will see a tab entitled Blogs.

Click that tab and you will be directed to the place where everyone posts their blog entries.

Then on your left hand side you will see under Options, Your Blog/Blog. Click that an a screen will open to copy in your post.

Be sure to follow the directions posted in the main post as far as numbering the posts, etc. It is one of the judging criteria.
