I'm working on getting my business up and running. My goal is to be fully functional by January 1. What stage is everyone else in? Right now I'm researching how to get those first clients! I live in Bothell and plan to do a mailing to local small businesses including chiropractors, daycares, doctor's/naturopathic offices, etc. Any suggestions?

Hi all. I'm in Kitsap county. But willing to commute for any get together. I'm so busy with my website and my blogs and other social media sites that I tend to get lost and I'm not making it over to this site as often as I should. But I think things are starting to come together, finally. A little overwhelming at first, but that's how I roll.

I've been listening to the audio book "Never Eat Alone" by Keith Ferrazzi. Have you read/listened to it? There have been a few good reminders so far regarding contacts and clients. He emphasizes building solid, genuine relationships. It's not enough to contact people when you want something from them, but to think about what you can do for them too. It sounds simple enough to apply that in your personal life, but carry that over to your professional life too.

I'm back from vacation and had a great time with the kids. What's everyone been up to?

I've been working with Excel for years and received my Microsoft Certified Office Specialist certification in Excel last year. Recently, I found a shortcut for creating charts quickly. Select your source data and hit F11. It will create a default bar chart for your data on a new spreadsheet. If you want it imbedded on your existing spreadsheet, hit ALT + F1 instead. You can also update the default chart to whatever chart you normally might use if you have a favorite.

Do you have any Excel tips you can share?

There's a great Administrative Professionals Day event happening in Bellevue on Wednesday night at 5:30 PM. MS Office genius Gini Courter of Triad Consulting is the keynote speaker and it's being held at the Couryard by Marriott Hotel. Maybe I'll see some of you there!
