In any of the groups for which you are a member, do you take advantage when offered the opportunity to present? If so, what do you present on and if not, what are your reasons for not doing so.

I do take advantage of presenting because it gives you the opportunity to position yourself as an expert on the topic of your choice. I make sure that I give a presentation that will be meaningful to the group and not a sales pitch for my service. The last presentation I gave was "More Social Media" where I discussed how blogs, discussion groups and forums can be as beneficial as Twitter, Linkedin and Facebook.

I am not ready yet to go back out and join a local group. But I do take advantage of my elevator speech at any time that I can which is really not that hard. I kind of work that part into the conversation. I haven't met one person yet that knows what a VA is and I take advantage of that of course.

If the opportunity presented itself, I would certainly take advantage of it. While presenting in person would cause major butterflies, getting up in front of a group of people and positioning myself as an expert about that information -- would be worth it. I have yet to find a networking group I like. I am on the cusp of perhaps starting my own.
