Hi there. I would really like to connect with other Canadian VA's to share ideas, problems, goal setting, challenges etc. If you have any topics, ideas, suggestions please don't hesitate to start another new discussion. Please don't be shy - we are all in the same place.

Any Canadian VA's doing bookkeeping? Anyone take care of payroll? I would like to figure out a way of calculating deductions for bonus pay. Any suggestions?

I tried looking on Canada Rvenue without any help but I would suggest that you call a local accountant and I am sure they will help you. I believe it is treated as income and deductions would be taken off appropriately. However, I could be totally off base. Sorry I couldn't be a better help.

Thank for your reply. Actually my accountant takes weeks to reply to my emails that's why I'm trying to do it myself. I live in Quebec so it's always a little different than the rest of Canada. I was hoping for a free online calculator or something like that. I'll keep looking. Thank you.

Hi!
This is the site I use, it's from the Canadian Government and it allows you to do payroll calculations. Not sure if it will help, but either way I find it a useful resource.

Nancy's Virtual Office
Hi Everyone
My name is Nancy Lynch and I live in Alix, Alberta (Central). I am looking forward to discussions in this group.
Does anyone have clients outside of Canada? I was wondering if there was different laws and regulations that I would have to follow. Or if there was a site to go where I could learn this.
Even within the provinces some things are different. We do not charge PST in Alberta, and it was mentioned things can be different in Quebec. Has anyone had experience in this at all?
Looking forward to hearing back.

Great question Nancy. I have had 2 referrals in the past week and both are businesses in the US. Not sure how that works..

It would be great to find out. I am going to ask my teacher where we would find this information, I know she has some clients outside of Canada.

I just found out from my teacher that there are no regulations in regards to working outside of Canada as long as you are an independent contractor. Although she did recommend that you consult your accountant for any tax laws.

I am a little late on the topic, but... I have a client outside of Canada. I don't do anything different than I would for a Canadian client. Although this will be my first year filing taxes for my business, I was told I just had to claim the income. Now I'm wondering if I should look into this further?

Hello fellow Canadians!
Just had a quick question.....are any of you members of the Canadian Virtual Assistant Connection and/or the Canadian Virtual Assistant Network?
If so, do you find them worthwhile?
Thanks a bunch!

Question: I have a new client from canada. I am a US VA. She wants me to redo my confidentiality agreement and contract in the legal areas to reflect a "neutral territory" instead of the state my business is in. Does anyone have experience with this and can help me understand? Thank you in advance!!
