Default What should a banner look like?

I have a new client that would like to put my banner on his website. Can anyone tell me what this should look like? I'm guessing my logo w/tagline under it...

Lily, that's definitely a good start!
Check out a few of the articles here for some more ideas.
Did he give you a size?

Ok, well - maybe take a glance at his site and see what the standard size of banners there is - no sense in making one smaller than necessary (or too big )

A banner should convey as much information as possible in the space provided - assuming you're going to do a static banner (ie - ONE frame of graphics/not flash or rotating GIF) then you should figure out how much space you have to work with and then yes - your logo and tagline would be a good start - as long as they make it clear what you do.

If not - then write up a little sentence about Virtual Assistance services, try to stylize the banner so that it reflects the style of your site and other marketing materials, and add a "click here" - underline that if possible (studies show that people tend to click banners that 'tell them what to do'

Check the ads and banners here on this site and other sites you frequent for more ideas.

Feel free to post your sample if you need help!

Thanks for starting this topic Lily. I have been trying to create a banner as well, but haven't had much luck. I even got a Photoshop template use, but I don't know how to work Photoshop yet, so I haven't been able to figure out how to edit it.

I'm thinking about taking a Photoshop class at our local Metro Tech. I usually just figure these things out on my own, but I think they can teach me more advanced uses than what I could figure out myself and the class is only like $25.

In the meantime I'm putting it together in Publisher then I think I can transfer it to Photoshop or Acrobat to create a .jpg of it to add to sites. The site I'm trying to add it to said it can't be bigger than 234 pixels x 60 pixels with no animation. I think that is a pretty average size from what I've seen.

Lily, is there any way you can post or link to the actual size? (It's bigger than this right? )

Hi Lily! The colors are little hard to read on the white background, other than that, I think it looks good! The website could be a little bigger font, to make sure people see it. You can always include some sort of call to action...i.e. "Click here for more info" or "Click to see what the Goddess can do for you." You included good information, and, of course, the Goddess that is you!
