Default Help with Dreamweaver and Fireworks?

My new software has arrived and now I'm totally overwhelmed with learning it. Can you recommend any good beginner tutorials for Dreamweaver and Fireworks? Thanks in advance for any replies.

Have a happy day!

Mj -

I don't know what other software you're familiar with ... If you know a little html, you can just open a new file in Dreamweaver and starting experimenting, and use the Help tab if you get stuck. If you'd rather have instruction, a quick, cheap, and reliable way to learn basics is through your local community college, or www.ed2go.com. You do courses online, they're inexpensive, and you'll learn everything you need to know to get started.

I find the Dreamweaver tutorials at the Adobe site quite helpful. Might as well start at the source and then see what else you need after that. They probably have tutorials on all of their software there.

If there's a library near you, you'll probably find several books on it there too. I have found several at our library.

I picked up a good CSS book, and then set off "playing" with Dreamweaver. That's pretty much how I learned, just by creating something.

If I wanted to do something I couldn't figure out, I did a google search on "Dreamweaver forums" and found a bunch forums that answer just about any question you might have on Dreamweaver and how to do something.

I found that the "Classroom in a book" series is a great way to go. I get them from my library. There is a disk in the back (or suppose to be!!) and you go thru tutorials!! The Adobe site is really GREAT Too!! If you have specific questions, the message boards are are very helpful.

Have you bought CS4? Dreamweaver CS4 has some great new features.

If you're unfamiliar with HTML/CSS, I would highly recommend Head First HTML & XHTML with CSS.

For free tutorials I would agree that a good place to start is Adobe. There is a list of available tutorials here.

Lynda.com has a wide range of video tutorials for $25 per month or alternatively Safari online books has over 6500 books and videos including 9 specifically on Dreamweaver CS4.
