Default WordPress for actual website? Or just the blog.
I've been researching how I'm going to set up my website and I've been reading a lot of posts about WordPress. I really like the ease of use and the fact that it is linked with hostgator (pretty sure thats who I will be using for my host). I was wondering though, do those of you who utilize WordPress use it for your general website? Or do you just use it as your blog?

On another note, I was planning on registering my domain through GoDaddy however someone told me that they make you advertise on your website. Is this true if you just use them to register your domain name? Or is that what happens if you use them to host your site? I want to avoid having clutter on my site and want to make sure this wont happen before I start shelling out money for services.

Thank you,
Meghan

I host with Ultra Website Hosting, that's also who I registered my domain with, I believe you register your domain with hostgater as well. I use WordPress for my site and blog, WordPress is very popular now and a great way to build a site in my opinion.

Let me know if you have more questions I'm happy to answer them.

Thanks,
Stacey

Thanks for the response, Stacey! I looked over your website and it looks great! Completely clarified my question as far as using WordPress for the regular site as well as the blog. Everything flows nicely. Just curious, how long have you had your VA company. I would send you a PM but I'm not at 25 posts yet.

I have a Wordpress site hosted on iPage and so far so good. My first site was powered by Weebly with a Wordpress blog but I couldn't get it to look exactly how I wanted it to so I switched. Good luck with yours!

My sites are WordPress both blog and website hosted on Hostgator.

I don't use GoDaddy anymore because the owner has had some bad press showing an elephant hunt he was involved in. I don't want to post the video because it is very graphic but I plan to transfer my domains for that reason.

However, if you use GoDaddy there were no ads that ever showed up on my site. The ads are when you try to check out from their service before making the purchases. They try to upsell a number of products.

Thanks Janine. The elephant hunting alone is reason enough for me not to use their services. Does Hostgater do domain registration as well?

MegVA - I use WordPress hosted by Blue Host for my blog and Go Daddy for my website; however, I will be transferring my website over to Blue Host as a subdomain. When I first started, I was mostly into transcription which is why we set up our website specializing in transcription. Now I have grown in skills and knowledge so much that focusing on Borlok Virtual Assistants just seems to be the better option.

I have many websites and all of the domains are registered through GoDaddy and they do not require you to do any type of advertising on your websites. I only use GoDaddy to register the domain names and then I host the websites elsewhere. I have a business hosting account with HostGator and I also have a VPS reseller account with Site5. I host some of my internet marketing sites on HostGator and other sites that are larger are hosted on my Site5 reseller account.

WordPress is the easiest platform to use when building a website and it's not just for blogs. It's really easy to make your website look like an HTML site and to do that, you would want to work with pages instead of posts.

The link to the website in my signature was built using Wordpress.
