Default What pages do you have on your site?
I'm just wondering what pages everyone includes on their website. So far on my list I have:

Home/Landing Page
About Us/Contact
Services (which may have sub pages)
Rates (where I'll have versions of my paperwork for them to review (contract, intake interview, etc.)
Why hire a VA

As I grow, I'll add a Clients and a Testimonials page.

I may consider a blog at some point, but I know myself and blogging isn't really my thing. If I did anything, it would be a roundup of all of the other great blogs out there.

So, am I missing anything??

Hello,

It sounds like you are off to a great start. As you will come to find out (it looks like you are already expecting this too) your web site will be an ever-evolving work in progress. You will come to find that you will need to add certain sections and remove (or condense) others.

I did notice you have About Us/Contact together. Not sure if this means you plan on incorporating About and Contact in the same page. If you are, I would urge you to create two separate pages, one for About and another for Contact. You want to make it very easy for people visiting your website to find your contact information. The most effective way to do this is to have a page with your Contact information, Contact Form, etc. Then a separate one for About Us.

Another page that comes to mind and I did not see on your list is a Portfolio page (samples of your work).

Hope that helps!

Thanks Darlene. This brings up a separate question - what do you show as samples of your work? I don't really have anything I can show because anything I do have is classified/confidential. Do you just create random things? I think it would be different if I were creating graphics/websites/etc., but with administrative tasks... I mean, I guess I could show someone the itinerary I did for a client. He visited 6 countries in 14 days and it was pure chaos!

Thank you so much Tess for asking this question. I have wondered about that for so long. I think maybe I could take a screen shot of some of my Access Databases but the other documents can not be shared.

I just re-designed my website and I have the following pages.

Home
About (contact info is here for now)
Services (I did have a page for every service, now I have one page and links to get to each section of the page) I don't know if this is necessarily better but I'm going to try it for a while.
Church Secretary (this is my target market)

I also have a GiveAway page and a thank you page for the GiveAway for the OIVAC.

Regards,
Deirdre

As far as a portfolio, I just have screenshots of work I created for sample purposes only (with the exception of database screenshots)

The portfolio page really depends on your chosen niche, your services, etc. It may not be one in which you want or need to include in your site.

Oh and to answer you original question...my current site (soon to be updated) has the following sections:

Home
About
Benefits
Services (going to be broken down into a few subpages)
Portfolio
Rates
Contact
Resources
Ethics (I have a link in text, but I am going to make it a choice on my navigation menu).
Testimonials

I honestly think I have too much information and plan on condensing/combining some pages. The pages that get visited the most by my web site visitors are: Home, About, Services, Rates and Contact.

One of the things I did when building my website (yes it is still a work in progress) is I went to the website review section here in the forum and looked at everyone else's. It was a great help for me.

I have a lot of stuff on my page, but it is a constant work in progress. I recently just removed some pages and added some different ones. I still have some more work to do on it. I put a star by the pages that are absolutely necessary.

It's ok to use someone else's blogs on your own website? If it is, that's good to know. One thing I'd like to do for my mom is get her her own personal website with a blog. The thing is, she's not very computer savvy so I'll be the one doing the content and such. As I don't know everything about the real estate industry, I was thinking I'd have to spend a lot of time doing research to put something original together. It would be so nice if I could include articles that have already been written, with credit where credit's do of course.
