I'm just doing some report writing for my first client and he's asked me to think about the fonts etc, I usually use Ariel size 11, what does everyone else use?
Is there a general rule for report writing or is it just down to personal preference?
I think Ariel and Times Now Roman are two of the most basic and generally used. Just easier on the eyes. Georgian may be in the list too..and I have seen a list somewhere..can't remember where.
It's usually Ariel or Times New Roman for me. Size depends on the report and how many pages it is, but ranges from 8 to 12, but 11 is the standard.
I like Georgia and Garamond - I can't wait until more people have Vista and Office 2007 because I love Cambria and Calibri. My preferred font sizes range from 10 to 12 and usually 8 or 9 for headers and footers.
I use Ariel, Tahoma or Verdana and typically stay away from Times New Roman...I think it can be hard to read sometimes- especially in the smaller font size.
I think it depends on the type of report you are writing. It should be different for creative, literary, engineering, teaching, reports etc. If it is a creative, report I like to use Ariel, Tahoma, Calibri or Veranda. However, if it is a report for a literary review, experimental reports and other social science reports I like to follow APA Guidelines of Times New Roman or Courier New in 12 point font.
