Default Website Domain Name: Feedback Please
I am trying to decide on what domain name to use for my website. As far as I know the ones that I'm considering are still available. I wanted to see what opinions any of you might have and/or what experience tells you in terms of having a hyphen in the name.

I've registered my business as: JK Virtual Office Resources.

I am considering jk-virtualoffice.com or jkvirtualoffice.com
I'm not sure if having a hyphen in the name is a) necessary or b) would make it more difficult to find my site or more likely that it would be entered incorrectly. Personally, I guess I just like how it looks better than the other, but I' concerned about functionality.

Somehow, jkvirtualofficeresources.com seems too long and jkvor.com seems too short and too cryptic.

My first inclination would be to go with jkvirtualoffice.com but I wanted to see what others who've set up websites thought.

Thanks.

jkvirtualoffice.com makes the most sense to me. I tend to avoid hyphens as they are often left out when users type in the URL. This option is short, but still describes what you do.

I'd go with the jkvor.com; I like short domain names, the shorter the better - it's less to type, especially in email addresses. I'd leave out the hyphens.

My vote is for jkvirtualoffice.com and I also suggest avoiding hyphens at all costs - clean and clear or your site will get lost when a user can't recall just where that hyphen was meant to go.

I agree. The hyphen would just cause problems. I was just reading a blog by the owner of hostgator and he considered domain names with hyphens to be a second rate option, most likely used by someone or a business that couldn't get the original name they wanted.

I like jkvirtualoffice.com it is clear and to the point. I also think that it is easier to enter. Good luck.

Thank you all for your feedback. I really appreciate it. I've gone ahead and registered/purchased www.jkvirtualoffice.com!

Hopefully, I'll be debuting an actual website soon.

I vote for jkvirtualoffice. I also wanted to tell you to be careful about asking opinions on different domain names on an open board before you purchase the name(s). This will sound incredibly paranoid, but you are giving a "name broker" (or anyone for that matter) to purchase the name out from under you.

Honestly, I don't think it would happen on this board, but I'm part of a Yahoo Group where no one would have thought such a thing would happen and it did. The name was meaningless to the unethical person who bought it, so it was a bit mysterious why it even happened.
