Default Website Content?
What do you think is most important in the beginning. If you were working on a limited budget, and were trying to get together a logo and website, and are doing a lot yourself where would pay for expertise? The site design itself, a professional logo or professional copy?

Any good places to look for copy advice?

As always thanks for your input.

It's a good idea to hire a pro for the tasks that are most difficult to do yourself, and that will take you the most time to do yourself. Hiring a pro can save you time and TIME IS MONEY!

Maybe I'm biased but I would personally spend money on my logo first and foremost because it's the first impression my potential clients will have of my business.

Plus, if you're on a limited budget, there's a great logo deal mentioned in the classifieds section!

Hi, this is a great question and I agree with Brianna that spending your money on the things that are most difficult or unpleasant for you makes sense.

A top notch website designer will not only help you get a great looking site but will be able to help you edit your content for SEO purposes, etc. - of course this runs the rate up a bit but can be worth it if you're unsure of your writing skills.

It can be difficult to design a really well branded website without the logo though (not to mention costly if you end up with a logo that doesn't fit well with the colors you've chosen, etc.), so I'd suggest working on that first.

As to where to go for great info on content, you can always check out the Content section of the forums right here (in the Website Development section) We've got a superb moderator in there, Kate Kerans who has a great handle on professional presentation through writing.

Hey, I tried to check out the logo deal link, but I don't have that privilege yet :-)

I feel like I'm in a chicken and egg scenario here. I found this http://www.logoyes.com/index.htm site for logos, don't know if it's been mentioned here before.

I was lucky with my investigative logo. Basically I had an idea in mind, drew it and was able to find someone to do it up for me. So far I don't have a clear idea yet.

Ah, sorry about that! I don't want to break any rules, so I'll not post it here, but you only have 5 more posts to go!
