Default Using unique (free) fonts to design your logo and section headers
I thought I'd share some of my favorite resources for design - one of them is Abstract Fonts where you'll find 10,000 free fonts for download...some are funky, some are ugly, some are beautiful swirly things - it's a great site and an excellent place to look for a unique font to help spice up your website.
Keep in mind, when searching this site it lists commercial (pay) fonts first, so scroll down the page a bit to reach the free ones!

Check it out here.

To download and install a font to your computer:
(hint: once the font is added to your computer's font files you can use it to create powerpoint presentations, word docs, PDFs, postcards, logos - any program you have like Paint, Photoshop, Fireworks, a logo creator, etc. will automatically pick up the font from your hard drive and make it available for you to use).

When you find a free font you like onthe site you'll notice a little blue arrow to the right of the font image, click this to download the zip file containing your font.
Save it to your desktop.
Unzip the file until you've got the font file itself visible (Once it's open you can also double click on the file itself to see the font displayed in many different sizes. The file will usually be either a True Type font file or an Open Font file - either is fine...)

So you've got your font file - then go to 'control panel' in your computer's menu and select 'fonts'
When you have your fonts window open just drag and drop (or copy and paste) the new font file into your fonts window and you will see a quick installation progress bar - once it reaches 100% the new font is now installed on your computer and ready to use!

A few more of my favorite font resources:

1001 Fonts

Font Freak

My Fonts.com (this is my favorite paid font site...has a huge array of choices and the best prices!)

Fonts.com (another great paid font resource, has license to sell some fonts that MyFonts doesn't)

Fenotype Fonts

Fonts 'n Things (lots of free fonts, also has some unique free design tools for beginners and other resources)

More fun stuff! I LOVE this site! Hmmm... maybe I'll stop haunting the other ones since I'm finding so much here
