Default Ready to launch website, but.....
I have been working on a website template using Kompozer and am finally ready to "publish". Problem is.... I am scared and not sure how to do this! Worried to pick a reliable host and nervous to go through the process - mostly because I have never done this before and don't know what to expect. I am excited, too, because it is a huge first step to officially launching!! Whew, feel better just saying it

Hi Melissa

Are you worried about not choosing the right host or worried about how it looks? As far as hosting is concerned, I very often come across website owners recommending Bluehost. Everybody can't be wrong. As for myself, I have yet to have my own dot com. At least you know how to use Kompozer. I don't even know what that is. LOL

And if you are worried about how it looks, you could ask for people's opinion. I believe in a simple website with white background but compact with infos and a few relevant photos to spice it up. I'm no expert but I like to blog or site hop. I like to look at nice blogs.

I hope that helped.

Hi Melissa I can totally relate - every little decision we make for our businesses feels (at least initially, during startup) like a *huge* deal, almost as if our success depends on that decision.

You're right that it is a big step toward making your business 'real' - go for it! Once you've got that site up and online you can move on to tackle more of your to-do list and start marketing and networking to bring in those clients that will make it all worth while

As to hosting, there are some great recommendations right here in this section of the site (Domain Registration and Hosting). I can't say I have ever used Komposer so I'm not sure what kind of hosting environment you need, but I can highly recommend AceNet hosting [ace-host.net] - they are so great all the way around and have awesome customer service.

Whatever direction you take your site, know that we've all been there at one time and are excited for you!

Thank you so much for your support and encouragement. Kompozer is a WYSIWYG HTML and CSS editor derived from Nvu ~ free and open-source.

I thought it would be just what I needed to see if I like working with website concepts and I have had a lot of fun with it and now I have a website! It will be important to me as I learn this process that the hosting I choose has really good customer support. So it is good to know about ace-net... sounds promising for that aspect.

My site is not at all complicated and is pretty basic. My goal is for it to be my stepping-stone to additional skills and to get out there to start networking.

Thank you again
