This is the first I have heard of it. I REALLY like Netfirms. Great prices and features.

I have not heard of them. I am in process of getting my business up and running, but have decided on hostgator.com after reading reviews here and on the web. One of the things I looked at was unlimited Data and bandwidth, something stablehost does not have. If no one on here has heard of it I would do a web search on complaints and/or reviews to see what is being said.

I have never heard of them, I use and suggest all my clients use bluehost.

AS for to create/manage the website, I personally have used joomla and love it. I use Joomla for many clients.

Wordpress is a great option as well, and I use it for my less techie clients, for a basic website wordpress really covers most needs.

Thanks for the feedback.. The only thing with the unlimited unlimited Data and bandwidth is sometimes its more of a marketing catch to reel you in.. Now is wordpress FREE? I am not looking to do a business site on that but I want to make another page just for a 'hobby'.. Does it work the same way as getting the hosting and domain first? I am going to go look at it now..

Yes you can create a wordpress page for free at wordpress.com. I thought it was really easy to set up too. They even have a tutorial.

WordPress is indeed free. When getting a hosting package, don't buy more than you need at first. You can always upgrade later if you are getting more traffic or if your needs change.

One thing to keep in mind when looking at Wordpress is that you want to be using the non-hosted version, which is Wordpress.org vs. Wordpress.com - if you want a site that starts out optimized to some degree. It's also free and has a ton of templates.

Also, when choosing a hosting company select one that will give you the ability to make your life simple through simple interfaces and good customer service.

HostGator is awesome and their customer service in my humble opinion cannot be surpassed. I can't tell you how many times I've called and my problem wasn't even really a HostGator problem - they still would help or at least attempt to. That's the definition of above and beyond - and it is live people you talk to.

Just my 1 cent for the day.

Before building your website, you might want to attend this free workshop:

9 Steps to Building a Successful Website for Small Business -
You need a website that drives sales and generates a profit. At this seminar you’ll discover how to develop a site that does both.

The workshop is given by www.bizlaunch.ca
I have attended a number of their workshops and they are all good. Short 1 hour webinars.

Currently I use IX Webhosting Unlimited and Joomla CMS which has worked well up to this point. I am considering transitioning to Wordpress if I can find a template I like. But I have been an IX customer for 7 years now and will continue to use them.
