Default Opinion on u Design Theme (themeforest)
Does anyone have an opinion on the u Design theme from themeforest?

After reading through a lot of the threads here and after nearly driving myself crazy with all the WP options out there, I have settled on a theme called u Design. My problem is that I am a bit apprehensive ... I'm afraid of becoming frustrated trying to figure out something that's way over my head. I built my present Web site using Yahoo's Site Builder. It really is so outdated and is in need of a major overhaul, as it probably reflects an outdated image (WE CANNOT HAVE THAT!).

Have any of you used the u Design theme, and would you suggest someone with my skill level giving it a whirl? Not that I'm a total numbskull ... I can usually figure things out. But sometimes ... ut:.

Thank you so much for any feedback on u Design.

Patty,

I just ventured into this theme for a friend and if you want to stay away from "over your head" you might want to skip this one.

They make the theme easy to use BUT all the fancy columns and things you see on the demos are done with widgets. Now, widgets on their own are easy but this theme has you using html code in the widgets to get the look they show. Gets kinda complicated.

Just my opinion. I generally use Thesis so I can't give an opinion on what other framework may be better for you. Maybe someone else has something they use and can recommend?

I just started using this for a friend as well and I purchased this for my own website make over, although I am having reservations.

It's not easy as Christina mentions. The designer provides the code but it is not easy to see ahead of time what something may look like until all the code is in with the proper text.

The documentation is available but it basic documentation and only the support area is good for specific problems. And while the designer readily answers questions, I found the actual support platform difficult to navigate and search for specific questions.

Check out thesis as Christina mentions. I also use ElegantThemes, which I found quite easy to use.

Janine and Christina, thank you so much for your comments. I am so sorry that I had neglected to say thank you before ... no idea where my manners were.

I'm definitely going to check into the simpler themes, although at the rate I'm going, I may never get around to it. I'm seriously thinking of having someone do it for me.

Thank you again for the input!

Hello, and embarrassingly so, it's me again with another theme opinion question -- which goes to show that I still have not made a decision on a theme.

I'm hoping that this coming weekend I will really begin to move forward with my Web site makeover, as well as writing a new article and writing several other articles that I have been dying to get to -- but those are another story.

If anyone has advice on the SOLID Business theme from Theme Forest, I would be so happy to hear from you. I love the cleanness of the design; however, just not sure of it's overall easiness.

Any one used it? I did see there were tons of sales and it had a 5-star review. I would think that's a good thing?

Thank you so much

Patty,

Sorry no help here on ThemeForest. I too use Elegant Themes, as well as ithemes and Thesis. I have found that between the 3 sites you can generally find what you need and the support on all are awesome.

Patty, sorry no experience with the "solid" theme but I did have a good experience purchasing through ThemeForest. With a 5 star review and lots of sales you should be fine. Does the theme have a support forum in case you have questions along the way?

I have recently heard wonderful things about the "Thesis" theme. It seems to be highly regarded by many web designers using WordPress. It might be worth a look-see.

Good luck and have fun with the makeover

I've never used Themeforest but I did manage a website that had Elegant Themes installed which I liked. I didn't install it myself though so I'm not sure how hard it is to install. I merely did some tweaks in the control panel. I use iThemes for the 2 websites I have. I prefer iThemes because you have much more functionality and you don't need to know HTML.
