Re: Microsoft Discontinuing Office Live Small Business Free Websites
I have this problem to figure out right now. I have my website through MS Office Live and can't figure out how to do the switch over. I can't get them to return my email where I asked for help. I'm trying to figure out if I should switch to Register.com. I can't find where this promo code is suppose to be, even when I'm signed in, or where to enter it, even if I had it. Has anyone completed this process yet? HELP !!!

Re: Microsoft Discontinuing Office Live Small Business Free Websites
Tanja,
Check your email because the code and the instructions to switch to the paid 365 program are in the email Microsoft sent to all subscribers.
The emails have been sent over a period of months.
Here is a copy paste of the instructions as copied from the Microsoft Live website.
The promotional offer will be available around February 1, 2012 – be sure to watch your email or follow this blog for the announcement. Once the promotional offer is available, you will have until April 30, 2012 to sign into OLSB to access your unique one-time use promotional code for Office 365. Upon sign-up for Office 365, the 6 month promotional offer will begin. We recommend that you follow the self-transition guide to move your web site, email, contacts, calendar and any documents over to Office 365. Or, you can hire a partner to help facilitate the transition.
The transitional guide link is here http://g.microsoftonline.com/0rmcm00en-us/5223 in pdf and is also available live in the FAQs I provided below
And all the FAQs are here. http://www.microsoft.com/office/olsb/FAQ-EN-US.html
I haven't heard of register.com. Have you thought about self-hosting?
Janine

Re: Microsoft Discontinuing Office Live Small Business Free Websites
Thanks Janine, I don't remember getting any email with this code from MS but I will check through my emails again to make sure. My client uses Register.com and from having worked with his email/website just a little, it seemed real easy. I'm not too much of a website pro, so all this website/hosting jargon is a lot over my head. Needless to say, I never even heard of self-hosting. Register.com today said I should really consider going with their Professional hosting package for $97+/mo where they also do the SEO and marketing for me which would be nice to have so I don't have to learn how to do that on my own, but I'm not sure if I want to pay that much a month.
How does self-hosting work?

Re: Microsoft Discontinuing Office Live Small Business Free Websites
Hello Ladies
There is a new promo for 6 months, I haven't transition as of this writing and time is running out. Read the email from MS, I received it on April 20, 2012. I hope this helps. I see the link in the email isn't working here send me email through my website contact page and I'll forward the email to you.
Phyllis,
This is your final notice. On April 30, 2012, Office Live Small Business will be discontinued. If you do not transition your website, uniquely40virtualoffice.com, your custom email and website account will be deactivated and all of its content will be deleted.
You must choose to transition your account content to the Microsoft Office 365 6 month free trial or to another web service provider or storage location. To help you with this transition we recommend following the instructions provided in the self-transition guide. Please note that it could take from 5-10 days to transition your account depending on the complexity of your site.
To take advantage of the exclusive 6 month free trial of Microsoft Office 365 and Office Professional Plus, sign into your Office Live Small Business account by April 30, 2012 to get your personalized, one-time use promotion code. The standard trial period is 30 days, but your unique promo code gives you access to 6 months.
When your free trial is over, you'll be able to purchase a subscription to Office 365 for professionals and small businesses and Office Professional Plus. If Office 365 does not meet your business needs there are many other website hosting providers from which you can choose.
Need help?
Get help transitioning to Office 365 by reading the transition FAQ, visiting the Office Live Small Business Community (English only), or contact Office Live Small Business Support for free. You can also find and hire a partner to do the transition for you.
Thank you for being an Office Live Small Business customer.

Office Live Small Business Team
