Question iWeb-Has Anyone Used to Design Your Website
I'm in the process of designing my website. Initially, I started designing it in WordPress. But all the coding stuff is a mystery to me. I have a Mac and started playing around with iWeb and found it is so easy to use.

I was wondering if anyone had designed their website using iWeb. If so, I would love to hear how that worked for you, how your site is hosted, and any other information (good or bad) or suggestions you might have.

Please feel free to PM me if that is more convenient for you.

Thank you!

Hello,

iWeb is very cool, I think it's the best web page design software of it's class out there.

I used iWeb to create the help book for our app DirectorySync and it's very easy to work with, it has guides where components snap to these guides to make it easier to line things up and iWeb had this feature years before Adobe added it to their apps. Also, iWeb has nice templates and makes it easy to add effects to your pages such as rounded corners and drop shadows etc. all with a very intuitive interface and one click. If you want to add an image to your page, just drag and drop it right there. After you are all done, you can upload it to your site using FTP which iWeb provides or you can use the template you created in your Wordpress if you have some HTML and Wordpress customization knowledge...

Good luck and let me know if you have any further questions!

Hamid,

Thank you for your response to my question about iWeb.

I started creating my website with WordPress with no knowledge of HTML. It has been a huge struggle for me. I then found iWeb and love it because it is so easy and has such cool features (like you mentioned in your response).

I hadn't seen anyone else on this forum mentioning that they had used it, and I wanted to make sure that I wasn't going down a path I would regret later. Based on your response, it sounds like I'm heading in a good direction using iWeb.

My site is hosted by BlueHost and I guess I just don't understand the whole FTP thing and how that works. Can you shed some light on that process for me before I call BlueHost?

Thanks again!

Unfortunately, I couldn't find how to send you a PM. Can you send me a PM with the information?

Thanks.

Hi Again,

My PMs are turned off but I will send you a message soon...

Regarding struggling, I've been there, when you insist to learn though the rewards are amazing, you will learn new skills that you will be able to offer to your clients later on.

So I strongly suggest digging into this and learning how to customize a Wordpress template using your newly made pages in iWeb but after creating your first website with iWeb.

Regarding uploading using iWeb, I suggest reading and following a nice simple tutorial on how to use iWeb to create a website. There are tons of video tutorials; in only a few hours and a bunch of video tutorials, you will learn all about how to do it properly, here is an example:
http://gigaom.com/apple/how-to-build-a-site-in-iweb/

I'm sure you can find many more on YouTube or elsewhere...

Here is another video by Bluehost you can watch about FTP:
https://my.bluehost.com/cgi/help/ftpaccounts

You will find all you need by either asking here or searching online...

I hope this helps.
