Ug, I'm embarrassed to ask this question but I'm relatively new at commercial web design and was just hired today to create a website for a local company who is my client for another business I have. After signing the contract, they mentioned they wanted the site to be viewable on mobile devices / a mobile version of the site. I have NO earthly idea how to do this, or how to price it if I were to spend the time to learn it!! (Honestly, I really don't want to learn it at this point because of my workload.)

Our contract says that the site will be viewable in Internet Explorer and Google Chrome. I never even considered the mobile thing since I don't have internet access on my cell phone, so I'm not up to speed here. What browsers do mobile phones use? I hope it's something other than Explorer or Chrome so that will give me an easy way out. What would be involved in a project like this? I don't even know where to begin.

what are you using to build the website? I know that wordpress has a plug in which makes it mobile accessible. I used it on my site.

Calliope, does this take hours to figure out and optimize? I'm wondering if testing would be a nightmare for me since I would have to borrow phones from different friends to see how it looks.

I used WP Mobile Detector from http://www.websitez.com/ and it works pretty good. I can view my page on my phone and my friends who have smart phones said the site looked fine too.

Does WordPress take hours to figure out? I didn't think so. And the plug in didn't take long either. I emailed a couple of friends and asked them to look at it, since one had an iPhone and the other has the Windows phone.
