Default Help w/Backup Buddy & Wordpress
I posted this a couple of weeks ago and then said never mind, I'd found the solution. I was a bit premature.

So...I am reaching out again and scrambling now to get some help with a question about Backup Buddy.

Thanks ya'll!!!!!

Here's the thing. I have my primary domain and for example I'll call it www.abccompany.com - It has content in it already. I am revamping it behind the scenes, so I setup a sub-domain. We'll call it www.subdomain.abccompany.com

2 Questions.
1) When I first setup abccompany.com...it was through a WP installation, so of course a database was created. Backup Buddy says I need to create a new database...so what happens then to the old database?

2) They say that in the root directory you need put the backup files in there, but in their tutorial they show that the guy creates a folder in his directory called kwickbackup...and so when he goes to restore he uses http://www.domainname.com/subdirecto...mportbuddy.php.

It all works great. His backup then shows up at www.domainname.com/subdirectory/kwickbackup - but then how does he get it to show up at his www.domainname.com. And how would I get it to show up on my www.abccompany.com domain?

I hope I'm making sense. I may have to take this one offline. Thanks!!!

You should probably post your backup buddy questions in the ithemes forums. They're pretty quick in getting back to people.

Hi Paulette. Unfortunately, they haven't been quick at all - and the couple of times I tried they sent me back to the training videos, and the training videos don't really address this particular thing. They are great about how to backup and then setup another site and restore, or migrate - but they are always backing up or migrating to a sub-domain or sub-directory.

I've seen requests for help on there that go back for days or weeks with no response. Very sad.

Pam,

The old database becomes irrelevant once you switch everything over. After you are sure everything is in working order you can delete it. I would be sure to create backups of everything before you try this.

If you are putting in a sub-directory then you would need to point that to your directory of your domain. You should be able to ask your host how to do this as I cannot remember the exact steps or even Google moving WP from sub to main. I know there are instructions somewhere to do that.

The reason for the new database is so that you have a clean install because Backup Buddy is designed to move and redirect everything including links. If you do that on an old database it will create havoc as you already have information there.
