Re: Go Daddy website builder
Tina I think Headway is so much easier than the Thesis Theme - your site looks great.
Donna - My org. site was the GoDaddy website builder and I never was happy with it. There are a lot of sites out there Wordpress based and I think that is a great option to choose. Good Luck with it.

Re: Go Daddy website builder
I used Go Daddy for my website and one day I decided that I wanted to revise the site from scratch. So...I recreated the site. It took about a month, then I took down the old site and attempted to upload the new site. The new site would not upload, I kept getting error messages. I called GoDaddy support so many times over the course of about two months, talking to different tech support people and no one could give me a reason why my site would not upload. Finally after about three months I was connected with the "tech guy" of Go Daddy and he figured out that I was using a version of their website software that was obsolete. No one told me that the website software had been changed. I spent about four months without a website because of not being told of a software change...needless to say, I dropped Go Daddy. Good Luck with Tech Support if you decide to use them.

Re: Go Daddy website builder
I have read so many negative reviews of GoDaddy...one of my sites has upcoming renewal soon. I'm thinking of dropping it and use WP based site, with a different hosting of course. It's just GD was the cheapest at that time, I got a year hosting (include domain) for 47.69.

Wow! The negative experiences blow my mind! I built my site on GoDaddy using Website Tonight from scratch and have maintained it myself for nearly 3 years. I have never had a problem and am still really happy with my site.

Jean, Is your current site a Wordpress design or Go Daddy?

Yes, I too was very blown away with the negativity re: Go Daddy. I can't see paying a web designer a thousand bucks to create my site. I have a degree in Computer Science, however, web design and graphics are not my forte'. I've made a commitment to learn Word Press and create my site using their software. As I learn the wonderful world of Blogging, I can also offer it as another service.
The issue is, I have a website www.livewirevs.com, however, 90 percent of my clients need computer repairs so I end up working at their home or office. I love what I do, but I was hoping for more virtual clients. Somehow, I have to figure out how to market that side of my business more efficiently. Right now, I'm just very grateful for the computer jobs.

Lily I never had a problem with the customer service w/GoDaddy at all - just was not happy with what I could do with my site there.

Re: Go Daddy website builder
Hi ... I've put up quite a few websites myself.
1) The advantage of GoDaddy is that even if you just buy the Domain, you can instantly get a free 5 page Website Tonight package. This means, you don't have to pay for monthly hosting. This is excellent for VA newbies who don't have clients yet. The Website Tonight is very easy to use (point and click type), but the templates are quite limited. I never had experience with their support staff.
2) If you need to go above the 5 pages, I would strongly recommend you use Hostgator instead. In Hostgator, you can switch in between different platforms (i.e. website builder, wordpress, etc). Hostgator has Plesk Website Builder, very easy to use and much more templates than GoDaddy. Cheaper too if you compare paid website tonight vs hostgator. If you find the builder doesn't do you justice, you can easily switch to wordpress at a click (ie. using Fantastico cPanel). Which is what I did before.
I understand you are now using wordpress. Yes, that is the best in terms of flexibility! I'm also using wordpress but honestly, wordpress requires more technical know how than website builders. But I love the wealth of plugins and integration! If you have any questions, I would love to help you too. Coincidentally, my latest website shares tutorials on godaddy and hostgator website building, but the site itself is built on wordpress (because I just added it as a subdomain in my hostgator account). If I can be of any help, just let me know. http://createownwebsite.vatrainingonline.com/.

I LOVE Headway. As a holder of a developer license I've been beta testing the latest version and I can tell you that it just keeps getting better. I've been really impressed.

I agree that if you're going to personalize a site using CSS coding Wordpress requires more technical knowledge, but if you find a good theme, I've found it much easier to build a website with than website builder software. Plus, maybe its just because I'm a geek, but I have always found the website builders very limiting.

Re: Go Daddy website builder
Tina, I LOVE your site! Just the sort of thing that I want, fun but still business. I've got my hosting set up with Go Daddy, and I need to get the site itself up. I'm actually very technical and have taken some web design courses, but for some reason when it comes to MY site, I'm have a bad case of writer's block.
