Free Website Ideas - Virtual Assistant Forums

I am helping my brother sell his house FSBO and am planning to make a website to promote it. I don't want a long term commitment, but want the option of having it up as long as needed. I also think this would be a good opportunity for me to learn some more web design skills. I am thinking Wordpress would be the best option. Is this a correct assumption?

Also, any REVAs out there with any advice I would greatly appreciate it. Though the market is down, we are attempting to sell it by owner first because his Ex-GF took over $15000 from him and we are trying to recoup some of that. Thanks so much for any input you have.

I use MS Office Live, which is free. I have used them for my website as well as a temporary site for a conference I was co-hosting.

You could also go the route of creating a Word Press Blog. I see many people use them for their sites.

Are you planning to purchase a domain name to do this? It would only cost $10 at Godaddy and about $7 or $8 if you use the code that was posted elsewhere on this site (can't remember where it was).

Hosting can be done very inexpensively. You won't use a huge amount of bandwidth (like a forum site might) and you won't require a lot of space. You might have to go with paid hosting to get the flexibility you want and the ability to use WordPress to its full potential. I think free WordPress (at WordPress.com) does not allow ads of any kind - and your site will basically be one big ad for the house.

Didn't know about the ad thing on wordpress. If that is the case then how are others allowed to make their VA or other websites on wordpress? Either way, I did it on there already. You can check it out here. I will move it if I have to. I don't really want to buy a domain and hosting because it may only be up for a month, just really depends on how quick we sell the house. Thanks for all the input.

I don't think anyone here has their VA business site hosted at WordPress.com, they may have their business blogs there. Some of us are using WordPress to create websites and have them hosted elsewhere.

Just be careful going this route since WordPress.com reserves the right to dismantle sites if they are not on their list of allowable blogs. http://wordpress.com/types-of-blogs/
