I ran across this article post by a fan page I follow. I thought it provided some really great insight about website user behavior when they come to your website...much it appears to be supported by research/studies.

I wish I had known some of this information when designing my website but I will certainly keep it in mind for future designing and tweaking. If you think about how you navigate a website and consider this information as well when putting together your website, you'll probably see some good results, especially since your website is your store front, so you want people to find what they and stay awhile.

Ultimately, it all boils down to the one:

People don't have patience

If the answer is not immediately apparent, many people will either give up, or look elsewhere (there's plenty more sites in the sea). In testing, participants regularly navigate to the right page, only to quickly conclude they've gone wrong and navigate away.
