I was looking for a template for the new version of my site. Now, whenever I google "CSS templates", they all come up with XHTML/CSS.
I was just wondering if they mean the same thing? I have found a CSS/HTML layout for my site; but when I next look for a template (whether it'd be for a client or for a personal blog) then I'd know what it means the next time!
CSS is Cascading Style Sheet, HTML or XHTML refers to "hyper text markup language".
Basically, XHTML is the language you're using and CSS is what you're saying with that language. You would use XHTML to write your CSS.
CSS tells your page layouts what style to follow. Your CSS tells the page "ok, Headline 1 should be a red size 12 Arial font....links will be purple and italicized...."
Lia, check out our HTML and CSS: The Basics archived courses (we're up to Session Five thus far) for more info on how to use CSS to style your web pages (and HTML, for that matter )
